Job Overview
The Assistant Director of Admissions shares in the responsibilities involved with the recruitment and selection of talented undergraduates, and interacts with prospective students, parents, high school guidance counselors, alumni & student volunteers, and faculty. They apply strong public speaking and writing skills to their responsibilities, as well as their sensitivity to the needs of differing groups of students and a commitment to a diverse student body.
The Assistant Director of Admissions also conducts frequent presentations on-campus to prospective students and their families in specific duties that include but are not limited to include daily management of a geographic region and assigned travel designed to attract qualified students and full participation in the application review process.
The Assistant Director of Admissions receives collateral assignments based on their own strengths and interests.
Work Interactions
Reporting to a Senior Associate Director and serving as a regional admissions officer, the Assistant Director of Admissions engages in the recruitment and evaluation of applicants for Admissions. Internally, they interact internally with other members of the Admissions committees in evaluating student applications - and externally with students and parents in on-campus information sessions, individual meetings, phone conversations, visits to high schools within their assigned admissions region, and in meetings with Alumni who serve on AAP committees.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required - Master's degree highly preferred
5 or more years of admissions experience preferred
Willingness and availability to travel and to work some weekend and evening assignments
