Job Details
Overview:
The Banquet Manager is responsible for the supervision of the day-to-day operations of the banquet department. The successful candidate will have excellent leadership, communication skills, and superior customer service to ensure all meetings and events run smoothly for guests and attendees along with an interest in following and adapting to current food and beverage trends.
Responsibilities
- Assist in managing the daily operation of the banquet department
- Communicating to staff in pre-function meetings all specific set-up needs of buffets, receptions, and overview of daily events
- Reviewing all details of BEO’s and checking all room sets prior to each event for accuracy including china, glassware, silverware, linen, and floor plan
- Attend and participate in regularly scheduled departmental team meetings
- Work closely with catering sales and banquet culinary operations team to participate in successful banquet events throughout the club
- Interact with members and their guests, develop an awareness of members likes and preferences
- Coordinating with housekeeping and engineering to ensure the highest level of product delivery
- Assist in conducting month-end inventories as scheduled
- Assist in conducting annual performance reviews for all banquet staff
- Work with all other departments to execute member and guest events and meetings
- Maintain confidentiality of all members and Club information
- Follows grooming and uniform standards established for this role
- Working as a team, effectively communicating with management and co-workers
- Ensure that member and associates areas are maintained in a safe and secure environment
- Always being positive, showing enthusiasm, being humble, being thankful, and being respectful to all team members
- Performs all other duties as directed by immediate supervisors
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of banquet experience at a luxury hotel, catering facility or private club with similar operational responsibilities, with experience in supervising staff
- Experience in executing fine catering table service, creativity in designing the display of buffet and stationary menus
- Knowledge of food, wine and spirits
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to prioritize and organize work assignments and multi-task
- Ability to supervise staff, including, assignment of duties, evaluating service, and conducting disciplinary action as required
- Possess good computer skills, proficient in Excel, Word and knowledge of operating POS system
- Punctuality and regular and reliable attendance
- Must be dependable and available to work within the club on weekends, nights and/or holidays based on business demands
- Must have a positive attitude, be self-motivated, polite and energetic
