Diamond Offshore Company is Hiring a Senior Accounts Payable Specialist Near Houston, TX

Responsibilities:
The Senior Accounts Payable Specialist will report to the Manager - Accounts Payable and will be responsible for processing invoices to ensure payments are made in a timely manner, processing payments and undertaking general administrative tasks as assigned.
Primary Responsibilities:
The Senior Accounts Payable Specialist may:
- Process and/or review non-purchase order invoices and internal documents in Oracle Accounts Payable system in accordance with the published Approval Authority Matrix and Diamond Offshore policies
- Review and process expense reports
- Determine and/or verify complex coding string for accuracy and completeness
- Become knowledgeable with sales tax requirements, when charges are applicable versus exempt
- Perform root cause analysis of issue(s) preventing 3-way match of vendor invoice and take necessary action to resolve
- Collaborate with Procurement team members to resolve invoice or vendor set up issues
- Participate in meetings and voice concerns as well as suggestions for improvement
- Function as an independent contributor to accomplish tasks as well as working with AP team members
- Process vendor payments in Oracle Accounts Payable system
- Take initiative in troubleshooting and removing bottlenecks in the payment process
- Monitor the AP related email box(es) to ensure timely routing of messages to correct individuals
- Perform payment audit against vendor invoices
- Scan documentation into WebCenter Imaging system
- Assist Manager with Records Retention
- Reconcile vendor statements and correct discrepancies
- Serve as liaison between vendors and departments, including rig personnel, in resolution of administrative challenges and vendor inquiries
- Prepare vendor add/change form for maintaining vendor information in Oracle, request and review forms W8/W9 where applicable
- Utilize critical thinking skills to solve complex questions in various scenarios such as possible duplicate vendor set up, miskeyed amounts, etc
- Assist with 1099 preparation including verification of payment details and vendor information
- Leverage Excel skills to extract information from source systems to summarize into meaningful, actionable reporting format
- Ability to review report of invoice status details for determining hold type and initiate steps for resolving
- Assist with month-end close reporting, researching discrepancies, preparing reconciliations and related journal entries
- Assist with additional requirements necessary for quarter and year-end financial close
- Provide requested documents from auditor requests
- Participate fully in all Health, Safety and Environmental initiatives and safety programs
- Follow Diamond Offshore Global Excellence Management System (G.E.M.S.)
- Perform other duties as required
Qualifications:
Basic
- At least 18 years of age
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without restrictions
- High school diploma or GED
- 5 or more years of accounts payable processing experience
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal with internal and external customers
- Proficient with MS Office software
- Strong organization related to prioritizing tasks, sending follow up requests while maintaining structure
- Understanding of 1099 requirements
- Familiarity with sales tax for determining exempt/non-exempt status of charges
- Ability to work under pressure for meeting deadlines including financial reporting close cycles
Preferred
- University education
- Previous experience with Oracle accounts payable, Oracle WCI, Docuware
- AP experience with an oilfield services company
- Experience in multi-currency, multi-org organizations
- Experience with an offshore support / shared services model
