Academy For Urban School Leadership (AUSL) is Hiring a Talent acquisition specialist Near Chicago, IL

AUSL is a nonprofit organization that provides equity-focused programming to improve education outcomes for students in underinvested communities.

Our nationally recognized Teacher Residency Program recruits and trains diverse teachers with the long-term passion and skillset needed.

By leveraging the success of our Advisory Services, AUSL is transforming schools to help school districts across the country.

Our holistic model ensures our students experience more with programs only sometimes offered in public schools. To achieve the goal of providing access to an excellent education, we have two service lines : We train to develop best-in-class, committed educators through the most significant and first teacher residency program in the nation.

We are education consultants who guide change across the education landscape by advising other school districts nationwide on our expertise and best practices.

This role is integral to our success.

The Chicago Teacher Residency (CTR) is a yearlong training program with curriculum and mentoring explicitly designed for teaching in Chicago's most at-risk communities.

Since its inception, the CTR has trained over 1,300 teachers who have served in Chicago Public Schools and are producing sustained, transformational impact for students in Chicago.

Essential Functions

Recruitment

  • Recruit and retain candidates for the AUSL Chicago Teacher Residency. These are career-changing teacher candidates for highly needed positions in the Chicago Public Schools.
  • Prospect and establish robust candidate pipeline opportunities by executing The AUSL Recruitment Process. This process is built on urgent, consistent connections in our software system and allows for specific features and benefits of the Chicago Teacher Residency program to be communicated clearly.
  • Represent CTR at virtual, local, and regional recruiting events
  • Travel to out-of-state recruiting events as needed
  • Expand awareness of the CTR Referral Program through a specific auxiliary area each Talent Acquisition Specialist is dedicated to adding to the enrollment pipeline.
  • Support internal AUSL network school relationships
  • Partner with Co-Managers to review and refine the recruitment and admissions process as needed

Teacher Candidate Management

  • Receive and respond to inquiries from prospective resident candidates with urgency and program features and benefits.
  • Conduct daily outreach and support to candidates completing the CTR selection process, including the DePaul University Partner admittance process
  • Guide the selection process through virtual coaching
  • Facilitate candidate file review process, including the transcript review, making sure that we have quality candidates joining the CTR program
  • Conduct applicant admissions interview to reveal teacher competencies
  • Contribute to retention strategies of CTR candidates throughout the recruitment cycle (August-May)
  • Attend recruitment events such as welcome events, AmeriCorps service events, and CTR Team meetings
  • Attend CTR events such as Orientation, Resident Seminars, and Graduation
  • Utilize Slate to make sure all recruitment contacts are input and Google Software to manage candidates, analyze candidate data, and communicate with CTR team members

Work environment

  • Hybrid, Remote, and Office-based, when required.
  • Some field visits are required to school sites as needed.

Physical Demands

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.

Required education and experience

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Two or more years of admission recruitment, K-12 education, and / or recruitment experience
  • Experience / capability to urgently coordinate, organize, and execute events
  • Experience with MS Office and Google Applications
  • Experience with online recruitment systems and CRMs
  • Attention to Detail
  • Clear Communication Skills
  • Enthusiastic Presence in person and on the phone

Work authorization / security clearance requirements

Must be authorized to work in the United States of America.
