RESPONSIBILITIES: The Controller must have knowledge of GAAP, IRC, FASB, accrual base accounting, organizational auditing, fixed asset accounting, and tax filing requirements. Will be responsible for managing the financial operations of the organization. The Controller will work closely with the Executive Leadership team to ensure that financial processes and strategies align with the organization's mission and goals.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; master’s degree or CPA preferred.
• Minimum of five years of experience as a controller in a healthcare setting, preferably long-term care industry.
• Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills
• Knowledge of accounting software and financial reporting systems
• Ability to think strategically and execute plans.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Manage relationships with banks, auditors, and other financial vendors.
• Conduct financial analyses of special projects and initiatives.
• Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, and Treasury.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, and state and federal regulations.
• Knowledge of Sage Intacct or other accounting software
• Responsible for overseeing accounting procedures, internal controls (implementing, monitoring, enhancing), and database management.
• Randomly audits workflow to assure that all accounting transactions are appropriately authorized
• Supervises or prepares monthly journal entries.
• Prepares financial statements
• Develop and implement financial policies and procedures.
• Manage and lead the accounting team.
• Ensure compliance with accounting regulations and GAAP.
• Monitor and analyze financial performance, including trends and metrics.
• Reviews monthly closing process
• Works on special projects, if requested; assist with yearly audit preparation.
• Promotes positive public relations with patients, residents, family members, and guests
• Uses tactful, appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional situations
• Use appropriate workplace behavior
• Know and participate in the facility emergency preparedness plan
• Adhere to dress code.

• Maintain confidentiality of department, resident, employee information, communication, and documentation as well as compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations.
