POSITION PURPOSE:The Controller is responsible for the Company’s overall financial planning & accounting operations, to include providing hands-on support in the the production of financial reports, maintenance of accounting records and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk and maximize return on financial assets. The Controller must be aligned with and achieve the company goals and objectives while maintaining a high level of confidentiality in accordance with company / department procedures. Ensures all Briggs Equipment standards are adhered to and executed consistent with company direction. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:1. Provide leadership and direction to team members performing financial reporting, accounting, collections, and budgeting duties2. Prepare or direct preparation of financial statements, business activity reports, financial position forecasts, annual budgets, and reports 3. Develop internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures for activities such as budget administration, cash and credit management and accounting4. Maintain current knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards5. Ensure all account reconciliations are completed, including preparation of assigned account reconciliations, journal entries and analysis6. Provide direction and assistance to other organizational units regarding accounting and budgeting policies and procedures and efficient control and utilization of financial resources7. Analyze the financial details of past, present, and expected operations to identify development opportunities and areas where improvement is needed8. Advise management on short-term and long-term financial objectives, policies, and actions9. Monitor financial activities and details, such as cash flow and reserve levels, to ensure that all legal and regulatory requirements are met10. Evaluate needs for procurement of funds and investment of surpluses and make appropriate recommendations11. Drive standardization in information requirements, format, and business processes12. Review calculations of significant / high risk estimates and/or unusual items13. Prepare business plans and audits as necessary14. Other duties as assigned MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Basic Knowledge & Competencies:• Demonstrated ability to analyze complex business transactions proposals, apply accounting regulations and communicate results with business professionals• Proven ability to lead, direct and supervise• Excellent customer service and multi-tasking skills• Demonstrated analytical skills in a fast paced environment • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, to include negotiations• Excellent time management skills to include prioritization of tasks and execution o meet established deadlines • Proven ability to exhibit professionalism during stressful situations• Ability to interface with senior leadership and navigate through organizational boundaries and proactively manage change within an organization Previous Experience/Education:• Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in accounting, finance or related field; CPA required; MBA preferred• 10 years’ supervisory experience in finance or accounting in a multi-unit, multi-state company preferred• Proficient in reading / interpreting financial statements • Microsoft Dynamics AX experience preferred• Experience in a growing company of at least $100M annual revenues• Intermediate experience with MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.)• Solid experience building and leading high performing teams PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS• Ability to lift up to 10 pounds• Frequent use of hands to manipulate the keyboard, telephone, files and other equipment
