Cascade AIDS Project is Hiring a Manager of Peer Services Near Portland, OR

Cascade AIDS Project (CAP) is the oldest and largest AIDS Service Organization (ASO) in Oregon and Southwest Washington that provides the LGBTQ community and beyond with compassionate healthcare. CAP’s mission is to promote well-being and advance equity by providing inclusive health and wellness services for LGBTQ people, people affected by HIV, and all those seeking compassionate care. Cascade AIDS Project is excited to announce that we are hiring skilled and team-orientedManager of Peer Services. The incumbent will work in collaboration with CAP staff and community partners to support CAP clients who are experiencing substance use, houselessness and/or mental health challenges. The person in this position will also assist clients to navigate the healthcare, mental healthcare, and drug/alcohol abuse recovery systems. This person will work with clients to reduce isolation and build social connections through participation in the peer support program and through referral to other psychosocial supports.

This is a Full-Time role working at our Davis St. location in NW Portland. The schedule for this role is Hybrid Monday-Friday 9:00am - 5:00pm. Some evenings and weekends are required.

Starting pay is $62,000.00 a year. This position manages 2-4 Full-Time Employees.


Who You Are

  • Knowledgeable about the lived experience of experiencing mental health challenges, substance use challenges, and/or houselessness and willingness to share that experience.
  • Two years of relevant work, education, training, or experience
  • Within 3 months of hire, successful completion of an Oregon Health Authority (OHA) Addictions and Mental Health (AMH) – approved Peer Support Specialist Training and certification as a Peer Support Specialist.
  • Prior experience with or knowledge of crisis intervention models, de-escalation strategies, and conflict resolution
  • Ability to recruit and supervise staff of diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Strong cultural awareness and understanding of challenges that may affect or influence service delivery.
  • Demonstrated commitment to advancing equity and inclusion in workplace and community settings.


What You’ll Do

  • Work in collaboration with medical case managers, housing case managers, services navigators, medical providers, and other providers involved in client care, to provide coordinated comprehensive care to PLWHA with a focus on fulfilling their goal plan.
  • Maintain a caseload of 5-10 participants.
  • Establish rapport with clients and work with them to facilitate engagement and retention in medical care and other services that support the client’s well-being and self-sufficiency.
  • Make staffing decisions and effectively delegate work appropriate to staff capabilities.
  • Encourage successful team development by actively involving staff in planning, decision making and conflict resolution.
  • Understand, appropriately interpret, and consistently apply CAP policies and procedures.
