Prism Health is the only nonprofit LGBTQIA health center providing comprehensive primary care, behavioral healthcare, and pharmacy services in the Pacific Northwest (Oregon, Washington, and Idaho). Since opening its doors in 2017, Prism Health has become a model for culturally specific care and now serves over 1,500 patients with a wide range of services, from day-to-day primary care and pharmacy needs to targeted services like gender-affirming care and specialized population health screenings.


CAP and Prism Health are excited to announce that we are hiring an experienced Phlebotomist. The Phlebotomist Performs specimen collection and accession receiving. Collects and processes appropriate patient specimens and samples for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease to conduct medical laboratory testing. Focuses on phlebotomy and specimen collection; may perform other, less complex technical and clerical tasks.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  1. Obtains blood specimens by performing venipunctures and finger sticks.
  2. Verifies specimen identification and appropriateness of sample type/volume for the indicated testing.
  3. Processes samples using aseptic technique and prepares required paperwork for appropriate testing and reference lab testing.
  4. Confers with patients to obtain information for laboratory records and to explain procedures.
  5. Recognizes and reports abnormal results to ordering provider.
  6. Documents all laboratory tests and results appropriately on logs and patient records per requirements.
  7. Communicates effectively with other departments and staff, including physicians and their offices, to facilitate the flow and quality of lab work.
  8. Monitors and maintains equipment as needed per regulations, interfacing with clinical staff and operations team when appropriate.
  9. Follows established guidelines for missed collections, recollects, and difficult phlebotomies.
  10. Assists in ordering supplies, noting expiration dates, usage, and delivery times for stock and non-stock items; upon delivery checks received items against items ordered, puts away stock, rotates items for expiration dates, and discards expired items.
  11. Coordinates with MA II Lab Coordinator to run quality controls daily as needed as well as other required testing.
  12. Performs proficiency testing per regulatory agency procedures and documented according to established guidelines.
  13. Participates in departmental performance improvement and quality assurance activities.

NOTE: This is a non-management, union-represented position. The compensation, benefits, and conditions of work for this position are collectively bargained. 

COMPENSATION: $24.04 an hour

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma
  • Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) License
  • Basic Life Support certification

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 1 year of recent phlebotomy experience
  • Experience working in a primary care office/setting
  • Previous experience with electronic health records, specifically EPIC


EMPLOYEE BENEFITS:

Any non-temporary full-time or part-time employee (working .5FTE or greater) is considered eligible for the benefits. Benefits may be adjusted based on FTE or hours worked. The below benefits are for 1.0 FTE or 40 hours a week.

Vacation Leave Other

  • 16 days of paid vacation (128 hours) each year for the first two years of employment
  • 21 days of paid vacation (168 hours) each year of employment beginning in year three
  • 12 days of paid health leave per year

  • Longevity bonus – two weeks of paid leave on the fourth anniversary, must be used within two years after the date awarded. Additional longevity bonuses are awarded at eight-year and 12-year anniversaries.

CAP cares about the safety of our team members and clients.
