Vernier Software & Technology is Hiring a Product Marketing Manager Near Beaverton, OR

This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. 

About the Marketing Team

Our Marketing Team is a quality-driven, flexible team that works cohesively towards a common goal, creates a positive working environment, and supports each other to combine individual strengths in order to enhance overall team performance.

The team excels at what they do, especially during peak times. The team develops all company marketing campaigns, which include email, social media, print, video, advertisements, and content for the website. The team also plans and manages online events and our presence at conferences.

The Marketing Team is a hardworking, self-motivated, and effective group that enjoys having fun along the way.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from a four-year college or university and 5 years of experience in a product marketing role.
  • Prior knowledge and experience in the education market is required.

Job Title: Product Marketing Manager

Department: Marketing

Reports To: Director of Marketing

SUMMARY

The primary goal of the product marketing manager is to create demand for our new and existing products through effective positioning, messaging, and marketing programs. This position is also in charge of shortening the adoption cycle and ensuring our market intelligence and customer understanding research is up to date.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

This position works cross-functionally with product owners, product managers, tech support, business development and across the marketing team to develop market strategies, value propositions, messaging, and training for product launches and hero products.

  • Go to Market Planning - Create full go-to-market plans for hero products and smaller go-to-market plans for ancillary products. This includes the development of competitive analysis, value propositions, messaging tiers, buyers’ journey, etc. Managing the creation, team input, team, and stakeholder communication, and handing off to execution teams. Maintain visibility into execution and results to ensure go-to-market plans are successfully deployed and sales goals are met. 
  • Project Management – Support the marketing team with project management of go-to-market plans, campaigns and projects, as needed. Communicates schedules with marketing team members, key stakeholders, and cross-functional partners.
  • Key message development – Develops key messages to support the go-to-market plans and strategic direction of the Vernier brand. Trains staff in the organization to ensure messages are understood and disseminated properly.
  • Collaboration – Collaborates across the marketing team to ideate promotions to build awareness, events to drive demand, engagements to nurturing of customers, and cross-sell opportunities. Works to understand the customer journey and to shorten adoption timeframes. Participates in regular PR meetings, providing input and recommendations for specific product lines
  • Research - This position is the expert on our buyers, who they are, how they buy, why they buy, and their buying criteria. Regularly coordinates or leads market research. Is able to identify market trends and lead market trends. Lead research on segmentation and analysis of the market. Understand and document the buyer's journey, including where prospects get information and their decision-making drivers. Develops and updates the competitive landscape for our organization and hero products. 
  • Value Propositions – Develop value propositions for all Vernier products and services, fine-tuning existing value propositions for key products. 
  • Measurement – Works with demand gen and marketing leadership to establish KPIs and metrics to be measured and help develop dashboards. Assess the effectiveness of marketing programs that support products on an ongoing basis and work with other teams to communicate results and fine-tune plans.
  • Acts as a Vernier representative at education trade shows throughout the year. This includes collecting competitive intelligence, interacting with educators at the booth, and speaking with members of the press if applicable.
  • Provides stellar customer service by maintaining professional working relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Maintains regular and punctual attendance in accordance with scheduled work hours.
  • Works under limited supervision. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Education market experience preferred.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from a four-year college or university preferred, and 5 years minimum of direct experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret technical and scientific journals. Ability to communicate both in writing and in person with science and STEM teachers, from elementary teachers to graduate school instructors. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry, and statistics.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
