Toast - Brea is Hiring a COOK Near Brea, CA

Position Title: Cook

Department: Kitchen

Reports to: Lead Cook and Chef

Supervises: N/A

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY

The Cook is responsible for the food preparation following recipes created by the Chef and Management. This position will work under the direction of the Lead Cook or Chef and ensure the assigned tasks are completed in a timely manner while following safety regulations at all times.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Kitchen

  • Ensure kitchen station is adequately stocked with food items and applicable tools daily;
  • Ensure that all food items are prepared and served in accordance with recipes;
  • Assists with the preparation of food items needed for daily business;
  • Take multiple food orders directly from wait staff and ensure each guest has the correct dish;
  • Prepare dishes, either by cutting ingredients, baking, grilling, or steaming;
  • Ensure the plating and garnishments are in accordance with instructions from Chef;
  • Perform portion control to minimize waste;
  • Assess the quality of food to ensure that it meets restaurant standards;
  • Assist other cooks when necessary.

Healthy and Safety

  • Thorough knowledge of food safety procedures;
  • Ensuring that all food items and products are stored according to manufacturer and safety regulations;
  • Ensure that a clean and sanitized work station is maintained throughout;
  • Follow the restaurant's preventive maintenance measures;
  • Ensure the correct disposal of hazardous materials.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment;
  • Exposure to moderate, sometimes loud noise level.

QUALIFICATIONS

Incumbents must demonstrate the ability to follow policies and procedures as established in the Company's Employee Handbook. Incumbents will also contribute to a positive work environment by behaving and communicating in a manner such that they get along with all constituent groups, co-workers, and management.

EDUCATION

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent

CERTIFICATIONS, Licenses, and Registrations

  • Current SERVSAFE Certification

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Previous experience working in the hospitality industry.

  • High proficiency of all kitchen tools and equipment;
