Toast - Brea is Hiring a LINE COOK Near Brea, CA

Position Title: Lead Cook

Department: Kitchen

Reports to: Chef

Supervises: Kitchen Staff

FLSA Status:

POSITION SUMMARY

The position of the Lead Cook is to work closely with all kitchen staff to coordinate food preparation and presentation in a timely manner. This position will ensure that all safety regulations are adhered too at all times.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Kitchen

  • Ensure that all food items are prepared and served accordingly;
  • Train kitchen staff on the correct preparation and plating of menu items;
  • Ensure kitchen stations are adequately stocked with food items and applicable tools;
  • Ensure the plating and garnishments are in accordance with instructions from chef;
  • Assess the quality of food to ensure that it meets restaurant standards;
  • Assists with the preparation of food items needed for daily business.

Supervision

  • Assist with conducting weekly inventory of all food items and supplies;
  • Train BOH staff;
  • Provide supervision, and direction to line cooks;
  • Assist with the scheduling of kitchen staff;

Healthy and Safety

  • Thorough knowledge of food safety procedures;
  • Ensuring that all food items and products are stored according to manufacturer and safety regulations;
  • Ensure that a clean and sanitized working environment is maintained;
  • Ensure that staff follow the restaurant's preventive maintenance measures;

TRG/Toast

  • Assist with safety training to ensure the safe operations of all kitchen equipment;
  • Ensure the correct disposal of hazardous materials.

QUALIFICATIONS

Incumbents must demonstrate the ability to follow policies and procedures as established in the Company's Employee Handbook. Incumbents will also contribute to a positive work environment by behaving and communicating in a manner such that they get along with all constituent groups, co-workers, and management.

EDUCATION

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent

CERTIFICATIONS, Licenses, and Registrations

  • Current SERVSAFE Certification

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Previous experience as a Line Cook preferred;
  • Previous experience working in the hospitality industry.
