About the Position:
Assist in the administration of a large departmental office serving teaching, research and extension functions. Responsibilities include: supervising office staff; serving as lead for human resources functions which include comprehensive understanding of University, DASNR and departmental policies, procedures and guidelines; handling routine departmental matters independently; overseeing general office budget; assisting department head in planning/coordinating special projects, meetings, etc.; maintaining department calendar; maintaining records; assisting in preparation of formal and informal reports; and serving as major point of contact with individuals, organizations, agencies and units both on and off campus that interact with the department.

The Department of Agricultural Economics teaches skills in business management, marketing/sales, finance, accounting, and economics related to agriculture and related industries. It also includes the field of community development which encompasses local leadership skills. Students learn how to analyze the big-picture issues related to agricultural, food or natural resource policies; rural or community development; or environmental and natural resource economics. Position Qualifications:
Required:
High School/GED with 5 years of related experience.
Must have great attention to detail. Must be proficient on computer and general software. Must use good judgement and have the ability to handle stressful situations professionally and keep sensitive information confidential.
Preferred:
7 years of experience Preference for work history in office environment with increasing responsibilities and supervisory experience. Prefer applicant with familiarity with OSU systems and procedures including epaf, FMLA, and workers’ compensation.
