MobilizeGreen is Hiring a Management and Program Analyst Intern Near Washington, DC

The position being filled is an intern in the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) National Budget Office. The intern will have an opportunity to shadow the bureau budget officer, engage with important issues related to the BLM’s funding and complete a project documenting historical funding requests. The internship is designed to allow a broad overview of the national level budget office’s purpose and function. The intern will have opportunities to engage in the Congressional Budget justification process, help prepare for congressional briefings, and witness the budget execution stage. The BLM Budget Office is fast-paced environment which requires the ability to remain flexible to meet evolving requirements.

Location: Washington, DC - Stewart Lee Udall Building

Term: 10-week internship, mostly on site, with telework allowed.

Duty Station: 1849 C. St. NW, Washington, DC 20240

Position Duties:

  • Review, inventory, and catalogue ten or more years of historic budget justifications to document successful proposals over time.
  • Read, edit, and draft assigned policy documents.
  • Develop briefing materials for BLM leadership, BLM executives, congressional staff, and other stakeholders in the BLM budget.

Eligibility:

  • Have a Bachelor’s degree or certificate (or pursuing a degree) in public administration, business administration, accounting, public policy, liberal arts, or other related disciplines appropriate to the position. A combination of relevant education and appropriate experience is also acceptable.
  • Project management skills or training are strongly preferred.
  • Experience with PowerBI, Tableau or other data visualization tools is preferred, but not required.
  • Have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • The ability to learn efficiently and put new skills into practice.
  • The ability to effectively convey information to individuals or groups, taking into account the nature of the information (e.g., technical).
  • The ability to work well independently (self-motivated) and as part of a team.
  • Be curious and passionate about government administration and have a demonstrated curiosity about the federal budget process.

You also must be:

  • At least 17 years old and not older than 30 years old (veterans may apply up to age 35).
  • Available to serve for 10-12 weeks in Washington, DC starting June 17, 2024.
  • A citizen or lawful permanent resident.

Work Environment:

The work environment is largely sedentary. The intern will report to an office up to 3 days a week. Some travel within and around Washington, DC is anticipated including a day trip to the US Capitol. Travel in and around Washington DC will be coordinated with the intern and utilize ride share, public transit or taxis. The intern in this position is not expected to travel or participate in any field work.
