POSITION SUMMARY
A Safety Manager establishes and oversees the health and safety processes for the organization. Take into consideration industry regulations and the specific risks in your workplace to ensure normal work activities are handled safely. They train employees in safety protocols and enforce them if they?re not being followed properly. Safety Managers also respond when workplace accidents happen, creating reports and determining ways to prevent similar accidents. A Safety Manager should be able to identify opportunities to minimize workplace health hazards quickly and efficiently. Ensure project goals, objectives and initiatives are met in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of Metcon.
Job Responsibilities
? Develop and implement comprehensive safety programs to ensure a secure working environment.
? Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
? Collaborate with department heads to establish and enforce safety protocols and procedures.
? Investigate workplace incidents, accidents, and near misses, providing detailed reports and recommending preventive measures.
? Keep abreast of industry safety regulations and standards, ensuring compliance across the organization.
? Lead safety training sessions for employees, emphasizing best practices and emergency response procedures.
? Develop and maintain emergency response plans, coordinating drills and simulations to enhance preparedness.
? Manage the safety reporting and record-keeping systems, ensuring accuracy and accessibility of data.
? Collaborate with external agencies and regulatory bodies to address safety concerns and maintain compliance.
? Communicate regularly with employees at all levels to promote a safety culture and address safety-related concerns.
Essential Functions:

Job Qualifications:
? Bachelor?s degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
? Completed OSHA 30 Course
? Proven experience as a Safety Manager or similar role in an industrial or corporate setting.
? In-depth knowledge of safety regulations, standards, and best practices.
? Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
? Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage employees at all levels.
? Ability to lead and facilitate safety training sessions.
? Proficient in using safety management software and tools.
? Certification in occupational health and safety (e.g., CSP, CHST, CIH) is preferred.
