Job Location Raleigh, NC Essential Job Duties This position serves as the Manager of Laboratory safety for NC State Environmental Health and Safety. The Manager of Laboratory Safety acts as the Chemical Hygiene Officer for the University.
**The incumbent is responsible for:**
* Administration of the safety plan process involving over 1,000 laboratories;
* Managing the University controlled substance program;
* Managing the laboratory ventilation management program, which includes over 1,000 fumehoods with sophisticated control methodology;
* Developing and maintaining a wide array of laboratory safety programs to address the requirements of 1910/1450, the OSHA Lab Standard;
* Managing exposure prevention and assessment.
Other Responsibilities N/A Minimum Experience/Education Bachelors degree and two years of related experience; or Masters Degree in a Physical Science, Biological Science, Environmental Science/Engineering, Occupational Safety, Industrial Technology or related discipline; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
*Some positions may require additional training or licensure. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.*
Other Required Qualifications
* Good communication skills.
* Experience with implementation of chemical safety programs in R&D or academic environment.
Preferred Qualifications
* MS in Industrial Hygiene or BS in Physical or Biological Sciences or Engineering or ten (10) years experience.
* CIH or CHP preferred.
Required License or Certification Must possess a valid NC Drivers license or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire. Alternate Option If no applicants apply who meet the required competency level and training & experience requirements, then management may consider other applicants.
