Role Purpose Statement

We are looking for a bilingual English/Spanish HR assistant to undertake a variety of HR administrative duties.

Assists in the administration and management of Human Resources policies and procedures and/or the Master National Agreement as necessary; ensures compliance with federal and state employment laws; handles employee relations issues and recruiting at local unit.

Main Accountabilities

• Assist the Human Resources Generalist in all recruiting processes.
• Prepare Orientation packages.
• Conduct initial orientation to newly hired employees
• Administrative duties and record keeping.
• Update employee files.
• Process documentation and prepare reports relating to personnel activities (staffing, recruitment, training, grievances, performance evaluations etc)
• Coordinate HR projects (meetings, training, surveys etc) and take minutes
• Deal with employee requests regarding human resources issues, rules, and regulations
• Sourcing temporary and permanent candidates.
• Review applications, screen qualified applicants and set up interviews with managers of the departments.
• Initiate background checks and drug screens.
• Network through industry contacts, association memberships, trade groups and employees.
• Research and recommend new sources for active and passive candidate recruiting.
• Utilize the internet for recruitment; Posting positions to appropriate Internet sources.
• Organize events for Union and Non Union Employees.
• Other duties as needed.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Proven experience as an HR assistant, staff assistant or relevant human resources/administrative position
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Basic knowledge of labor laws
• Strong communications skills
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with large groups- must be flexible-must be able to multitask.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision, interact with all levels of management and maintain strict confidentiality.
• Strong analytical, verbal, written, interpersonal and organizational skills
• Bilingual English/Spanish required.
