Position Overview:

Reporting to the Chief Financial and Administration Officer, the Accounting Manager assists, supports and maintains the bookkeeping and accounting functions of the organization. Key areas of responsibility are accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, audit preparation and grants management.

Responsibilities include:

• Prepares consolidated internal and external financial statements by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system and from departments.
• Prepares and maintains grants receivable and grant expense reporting. Supports organization’s ongoing compliance with grants.
• Prepares general ledger entries by maintaining records and files; reconciling accounts.
• Prepares payments by accruing expenses; assigning account numbers and requesting disbursements.
• Manage month-end close process.
• Oversee payroll entries to general ledger (bi-weekly and accruals)
• Post journal entries to general ledger
• Analyzes information and options by developing spreadsheet reports; verifying information.
• Answers accounting and financial questions from staff by researching and interpreting data.
• Manage employee expense reimbursement and the corporate credit program.
• Assist with preparation and execution of annual audit.
• Collaborate with the Chief Financial & Administrative Officer to develop and monitor policies and procedures
• Maintain fixed asset schedule
• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; and participating in professional organizations.
• Develops and implements accounting procedures recommendations by analyzing current procedures; recommending changes.
• Accomplishes accounting and organization mission by completing related tasks as needed.
• Additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

Must Haves

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Working knowledge of GAAP.
• Experience and knowledge with nonprofit finance and accounting practices
• Strong numeracy and analytical skills.
• Good problem-solving and time management skills.
• Highly organized and detail-oriented.
• Ability to carry out instructions provided either in writing or orally.
• Ability to self-motivate to achieve results.
• A multi-tasker with strong ability to work under pressure.
• Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines and produce quality results.

Education 

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university. 

Experience 

• 2 years of accounting experience.

Computer Skills 

• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, and accounting software.

Schedule:

Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5pm, some weekends, evenings and organization-wide events are required.

Pay Rate:

$77,000-$100,000 Annual Salary

Benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, Life AD&D, Voluntary Life AD&D, EAP and a 403(b) retirement with 3% employer match after one year of employment. There is also 2 weeks of accrued paid vacation and paid time off for school breaks. 

Location: 

This position works 100% out of the HQ office in Sacramento.
