The Human Resources Generalist will provide support to employees in Chicago and field facilities. You will be the point person driving assigned HR projects and initiatives, providing daily HR functional support for the department and will be responsible for HRIS system analytical reports and audits. The successful candidate will report to the VPHR and be headquartered on-site in Chicago. You will work cross functionally with internal team members in payroll, benefits and EHS to conduct new hire orientation and onboarding, annual open enrollment and collaborate with the safety manager. You will also roll out HR initiatives to multiple sites across North America. This will include employee retention, performance management, succession planning, employee surveys and other initiatives which are critical in delivering an exceptional employee experience both to our corporate office and multiple field locations.
This role requires a person who has HR generalist experience in an industrial, multi-site company for more than 5 years. Flexibility with the ability to travel when needed, multi-task and take on project work is crucial for your success in this role.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
o Possess thorough knowledge of applicable federal, state and local employment laws, HR operating procedures and best practices.
o Be able to acclimate within the company culture and gain an understanding of our business.
o Manage employee relations activities (open enrollment, employee wellness programs, NEO, training, and other programs)
o Conduct new hire orientation program
o Drive employee retention efforts, conduct surveys and action plans.
o Manage the employee handbook by updating new policies, state and local laws. Understand the laws in each state accordingly and oversee company policies in all site locations. Provide managers and employees with accurate information at all times.
o Organize and drive assigned projects, track progress and provide status reporting and ongoing communications with the team members and VPHR.
o Deliver HR and other training to managers and employees.
o In conjunction with the HRIS team members, work toward completing the implementation of the HRIS system and learn business processes that are needed to help with a successful implementation process across the company. This involves employee data and employee reporting.
o Responsible for the Learning Management System and the training of employees to utilize this system properly.
o Travel to our field sites, as needed.
o Collaborate and support the Recruiting Manager and assist with recruitment and on boarding of skilled labor employees and corporate positions. Source and screen candidates accordingly. Work with Safety Manager as needed.
o Handle all other HR and administrative duties as assigned.
