Job Overview
The Assistant Director of Regional Programs is a key position in the Alumni Relations Department responsible for managing a portfolio of Regional Clubs in the Southwest, Southeast and Mid-Atlantic Region. This group has a particular focus on the following regions: Atlanta, Texas and Florida
This position also is responsible for Welcome to the Neighborhood (W2N), a broad-based engagement program designed to engage over 40 Clubs and over 1000 alumni each year. The goal of this program is to have as many alumni around the globe gather together-virtually or in-person-on a single day and ensure all local Hoyas feel "welcome" in their region. All associated planning-including communications, marketing, event-planning, and volunteer management, are coordinated through this position.
This position is responsible for planning Summer Send Offs, a program designed to welcome new admitted students to the Georgetown to the community in the summer before they attend Georgetown. All scheduled emails, website coordination, volunteer management, and partnership with our development colleagues run through this position for this event.
This position is responsible for being the liaison to the Leadership Development Subcommittee of the Alumni Clubs Committee of the Board of Governors. This involves convening calls/meetings, regularly communicating with committee members and reporting out regularly at Leadership Weekends.
The Assistant Director responds to inquiries about club activity and directs calls and emails.
This person will serve as a professional representative of Georgetown University to donors, volunteers, prospects, vendors, faculty, staff and students, and provides on-site support at all of the team's on campus events.
Work Interactions
Part of the success of this position relies on a strong partnership with our Regional Development, Annual Giving and Donor Relations Teams to develop a cohesive regional strategy for the above cities. Additionally, this position exists to identify key alumni in the cities who can enhance engagement opportunities.
This position interacts with Alumni Relation colleagues, Office of Advancement staff (Special Events, Development & Stewardship Team, Discovery Team, CPRC, Annual Giving, and Communications), University staff, and external constituents including alumni volunteers, the Board of Governors and club leadership. Works closely with internal and external constituents as it relates to coordination of Leadership Weekends and other university wide events. Interacts with the Production Staff and GU360 and associated technology module staff, and data team in order to ensure that club members are fully able to manage websites, mailings and event registrations. Obtain and create current mailing lists for constituents.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree - preference for Master's in a related field
1 to 3 years of practical experience specifically related to alumni relations, event planning, volunteer management or a related area preferably in higher education
Proficiency with standard computer applications such as Microsoft Office suite, internet and e-mail
Proven experience working with volunteers
Experience with tracking data and compiling analytics, as well as computer literacy, excellent writing, speaking skills, and attention to detail
High level of self-confidence and enthusiasm
Ability to be a self-starter and strong customer service focus
Ability to tend to the needs of the alumni body enthusiastically, professionally, diplomatically, and promptly
Ability to work independently and in a team environment on several projects at a time
Experience working in higher education preferred
Willingness and availability for working some nights and weekends
