Florence Home Healthcare Center is Hiring a Human Resources Generalist Near Omaha, NE

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Human Resources Generalist. The human resource generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with HR Director in supporting organization needs. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: benefits administration, employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, and employment law compliance. Performs all duties and responsibilities listed herein, as well as other duties that may be assigned.

Human Resources responsibilities:

Backup support to HR Director in the following areas:

  • Administers various human resource plans and procedures for all organization personnel; assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures, prepares and maintains the employee handbook and the policies and procedures manual, in collaboration with administration.
  • Participates in developing department goals, objectives and systems.
  • Administers the compensation program; monitors the performance evaluation program and revises as necessary, in collaboration with administration.
  • Performs benefits administration, including communicating benefits information to employees.
  • Develops and maintains EEO-1 report annually; and maintains other records, reports and logs to conform to EEO regulations.
  • Report worker’s compensation injuries and maintain OSHA 300A Log.
  • Maintains compliance with HIPAA and maintains confidentiality.
  • Administer FMLA and General Leaves as well as other leaves (Jury duty, Bereavement leave).
  • Compiles and maintains personnel and medical records ensuring compliance with organization standards as well as CMS standards.
  • Handles employee relations counseling and exit interview.
  • Participates in staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars.
  • Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions and results of department in relation to established goals. Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to continually improve efficiency of the department and services performed.
  • Assist with various committees.
  • Maintains human resource information system records and compiles reports from the database.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state and local employment and benefits laws and regulations.

Recruiting:

  • Responsible for the organization recruiting functions to include job postings, screening applicants, assisting managers through the hiring process, managing pre-employment processes, posting internal openings, attending job fairs and interviewing as requested.
  • Welcome new employees to the organization by sending offer letters, completing onboarding paperwork, and scheduling/assisting with new hire orientation.
  • Keep employee records up to date in Information System by processing employee changes in a timely manner.
  • Maintain hard-copy and electronic personnel files in compliance with applicable legal requirements.
  • Answer employee questions and address employee concerns.
  • Distribute performance reviews and ensure company compensation policies and grading structure are being followed.
  • Responsible for I-9 file maintenance and compliance.
  • Complete employment verifications & inquiries.
  • Manage tuition reimbursement process.
  • Assist with the implementation of retention initiatives.
  • Respond to unemployment claims and represent Florence Home in appeal hearings.
  • Meet or exceed attendance expectations for this position.
  • Actively maintain a safe, healthy, and positive environment that promotes the physical and emotional well-being of employees, customers, and participants.

New Employee Orientation:

  • Process application including child and adult abuse registry, Nebraska Health and Human Services registry check, and criminal record checks.
  • Prepare all new hire materials including new hire folder for each employee, benefits package for all full-time employees, and orientation folder.
  • Facilitate first day of employment for each employee per Administrator/supervisor start day preference and gather/verify all required paperwork/documents from each new employee on his/her first day including I-9 verification; follow up by running E-Verify checks.
  • Complete State of Nebraska new hire reporting within 3 days of employment and termination notifications, as required by the State of Nebraska.
  • Facilitate assigned topics of group orientation and be prepared to cover other presenters as needed.
  • Process new hire documentation including initiation of Employee Personnel file, Matrix entry, and various user IDs & passwords, as applicable.
  • Enroll all new hires into the timeclock.

Personnel files:

  • Maintain accurate active, terminated personnel, I-9, & medical files for Florence Home employees.
  • Conduct monthly OIG/SAM Exclusion Checks on current employees and volunteers.
  • Conduct monthly licensure checks on current employee: RN/LPN, CNA/CMA, CPR.
  • Audit personnel files periodically to ensure accuracy.

All other duties as assigned:

  • Annual Zoo Memberships drive.
  • Coordination of CPR training for staff.
  • Maintain employee bulletin board, assist with monthly in-services, and assist in providing coverage for receptionist absences/meals/breaks as need.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or Human Resources, preferred.
  • Three or more years of experience in a Human Resources related field.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers. Ability to present information and respond to questions from employees, clients, managers, and general public.
  • Excellent computer proficiency. (MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of standards effectively. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written or oral form. Ability to prioritize, and check for errors and spot inaccuracies. Ability to predict the logical outcome of various choices and to make good decisions.
  • Adapts to changes in procedures and technology. Willingly learns new skills as required for the position.
  • Demonstrates competencies as defined by the organization for this position.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Experience with HR software and systems is a plus.

Pay: From $58,000.00 per year
