Responsibilities

This role is integral to our strategic growth and expansion plans. The Controller is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards and regulations, and provides strategic financial insights to support decision making by the executive team and shareholders.

How you can make an impact:

Accounting

  • Leads and oversees all aspects of the accounting function within the organization, including oversight of global timekeeping, payroll activities, accounts payable and receivables, and the overall accounting control environment.
  • Develops and leads a high-performing team that manages day-to-day accounting operations and ensures accounting processes run efficiently and effectively.
  • Prepares and reviews timely and accurate financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other relevant regulations.
  • Incorporates the principles of consolidation accounting into the accounting and financial reporting systems and associated processes.
  • Ensures the integrity and accuracy of financial data and reporting.
  • Oversees month-end close process, constantly reviewing procedures while eliminating inefficiencies—Automates and streamlines processes when possible.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies and procedures to ensure consistency and compliance across the organization.
  • Audits accounts for errors and corrects any inconsistencies. Monitor the general ledger account for compliance with GAAP, other industry best practices, and company guidelines.
  • Stays up to date with changes in accounting standards and regulations and assesses their impact on financial reporting.

Internal Controls and Compliance

  • Establishes and maintains effective internal control systems to safeguard company assets and prevent fraud or financial mismanagement.

Audit and External Relationships

  • Act as the primary point of contact for auditors and regulatory agencies regarding financial matters.
  • Oversight of time and labor (T&L) and payroll functions to ensure accurate and timely record keeping and payment.
  • Oversight of accounts receivable (AR) and accounts payable (AP) functions to ensure accurate and timely record keeping, payment, and collection.
  • Advise on potential financial impacts of business decisions and proposed initiatives.
  • Ensure the right talent is in place with the right tools, structure, training, and environment to be highly effective.
  • Foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the finance and accounting team.

Lead Organizational Transformation and Change Management

  • Employ sound change management tactics to drive adoption and mitigate the risk of new systems, processes, policies, and other organizational changes.
  • Sets a clear vision and foresees obstacles and opportunities.
  • Assigns clear authority and accountability; directs change while maintaining operating effectiveness; integrates and aligns efforts across units and functions: monitors results; tackles problems directly and with a sense of urgency.
  • Sets and pursues aggressive goals; drives for results; demonstrates a strong commitment to organizational success; works to do what is best for all stakeholders (Customers, Shareholders, Employees)
  • Thinks of multiple possible causes and anticipates the consequences of situations.
  • Generates multiple scenarios or alternatives and accurately assesses the costs, benefits, and risks associated with various alternative courses of action.
  • Considers sensitivities, assumptions, convictions, and business outcomes in the decision-making process.
  • Able to promote the free flow of information, ideas, and opinions throughout the organization (upward, downward, and across); maintain credibility and poise.
  • Able to foster open dialogue and demonstrate high-impact delivery of presentations.
  • Listens actively and hears others out; influences others; interact comfortably with a wide variety of stakeholders; communicates clearly and succinctly using a variety of media.

Qualifications

Bring your passion, here's what’s needed:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting. Master's degree or MBA is recommended.
  • Active CPA license required. Must be willing to become licensed in Texas.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in accounting, with 10 plus years in a management role, preferably within the engineering or tech services sector.
  • Proven experience in managing and directing all accounting processes.
  • Strong technical accounting skills. Experience with multiple ERP systems.
  • Technological and data savvy -understand the flow of data between multiple systems.
  • Experience with the consolidation accounting of multiple entities, both at a national and international level.
  • Experience with accounting for foreign currency transactions.
  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving abilities, using sound judgement to complex issues.
  • Excellent leadership skills and exhibits integrity to maintain confidential and sensitive information.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments and teams.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Travel: Occasional travel may be needed (10% or less)
