The Department of Information and Technology Services, has an opening for Communications Designer in Franklin County.
Characteristics of the Job: Responsible for providing creative services to include, but not limited to graphic design, photography, text creation and web-based communications.
Examples of duties or responsibilities of this classification:
  • Create contemporary page layout designs for business forms/documents, brochures, posters, and digital banners.
  • Generate compelling text content for print and digital distribution.
  • Create vector illustrations, logos, and icons.
  • Raster image manipulation and enhancement.
  • Consult with customers to determine needs and finalize plans for work to be performed.
  • Draft, review, and edit materials to ensure accuracy and completeness; make revisions and corrections as needed.
  • Perform research to stay professionally current with regards to trends, processes, and software.
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, advertising, graphic design, communications, or multi-media
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: 2 years of job-related experience desired, but not required
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Associates Degree with 4 years of related experience or HS diploma with 6 years job related experience.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.):
  • In-depth hands-on knowledge of the Adobe Creative Cloud suite of applications, particularly, InDesign, Photoshop, Lightroom, Illustrator, Acrobat, XD.
  • Proven accomplishments using the Microsoft product suite, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Working knowledge of content management systems (SharePoint, WordPress or similar) and social media platforms.
  • In-depth knowledge of photography concepts, platforms, lighting, and production.
  • Ability to work with stakeholders to deliver content that meets brand standards and guidelines.
  • Ability to interview, solicit feedback, and translate information through a variety of platforms.
  • Ability to think strategically to establish credibility and influence audiences through the communication.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced time management skills.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Working Conditions
Statewide travel is required as needed. Work is typically performed in an office, studio, and off-site locations. Sitting for extended periods of time. Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and to handle other computer and photography components. Ability to lift, bend and stoop as needed.
