Description
The Administrative Office of the Courts is the operational arm of the Judicial Branch. The court system employs nearly 3,300 personnel who support 406 elected justices, judges, and circuit court clerks.
The Department of Information and Technology has an immediate need for an Application Architect Assistant.
The Application Architect Assistant assists in creating, documenting, inspecting, and refactoring software definition, boundaries, and constraints for the KCOJ eCourts Enterprise systems.
Activities include building proofs of concept, reviewing and recommending third party applications for inclusion in the application systems, maintaining system integrity using audit and review processes, performing standard diagnostic testing, leading integration reviews across platform services.
Provides recommendations to the KCOJ Application Architect for new technologies to investigate as well as best practices for development lifecycles and Azure DevOps usage.
The Application Architect Assistant reports to the KCOJ Application Architect, with relationships with the Technology Officer, and Application Development Manager. May assist in directing application development team and their Team Leads as well as the Quality assurance department and tier 2 support.
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Collaborate with Product Owners to determine business-specific application needs.
  • Recommend application development plans for new or existing applications.
  • Ensure new application changes support current architecture or refactor when needed.
  • Serve as point of contact for development teams, supervising the design, development, and testing stages.
  • Demonstrate application prototypes and integrating user feedback.
  • Review scripts and code for applications.
  • Review, approve, and submit estimates for major efforts
  • Serve as the escalation point for production issues regarding KCOJ applications.
  • Run diagnostic tests and perform debugging procedures as needed.
  • Lead efforts for application integration.
  • Ensure architecture and code standards compliance.
  • Document application development processes, procedures, and standards.
  • Integrate trends in application architecture in application development projects.
  • Create application documentation including SQL ER diagrams and application workflows.
  • Monitor and report on application analytics.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (365).
  • Advanced skills in MS SQL relational databases and theory.
  • Debug C#, SQL, JavaScript programming experience.
  • API Testing tools experience like Postman.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Effective time management skills.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills.
  • Self-starter and avid learner.
  • Team and goal oriented.
Beneficial:
  • Familiarity with court processes; working with elected officials.
  • Experience with relational data modeling tools.
  • Experience with Selenium or other automated testing tools.
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Mathematics or Master’s in a related engineering field or a Professional Engineer license.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: 2 years of application architecture or 4 years of enterprise level web/SQL application design and development.

Working Conditions
Standard workday Monday-Friday. Available during off hours and on weekends. Must be available to be on-call 24/7. Sitting for extended periods of time. Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and to handle other computer components.
