Job Description

ABOUT US: The Cumberland Community Improvement District (CCID) is Georgia’s first, established in 1988, made-up of 190 commercial property owners that pay an additional property tax within the Cumberland area of NW Atlanta, GA. The CCID leverages these funds to advance key infrastructure and transportation projects within the District enhancing the value and quality of life for investors, businesses, residents, and visitors.

Cumberland has incredible assets like Truist Park, The Battery Atlanta, Cobb Galleria Centre, Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre, Cumberland Mall, the Chattahoochee River, and over 840 acres of national parkland. Cumberland is experiencing tremendous growth. Over 3,700 businesses representing 88,000 jobs are in the District with 31,000 residents now calling Cumberland home. Today, the CCID has a $26.6 billion annual economic impact on Georgia’s economy.

The mission of One Cumberland is to protect and conserve the natural resources of Cumberland and establish the District as a vibrant, diverse community.

JOB OVERVIEW: The Business Development Manager works to establish new relationships and maintain existing relations with corporate, business, and foundation entities to secure resources for the improvement and generation of new placemaking activities. Working closely with the staff of the CCID and the Board of Directors of One Cumberland, the Business Development Manager leads the acquisition of resources and development of partnerships with private, nonprofit, and public sector organizations.

The Business Development Manager is responsible for generating new revenue for One Cumberland through partnerships, grants, sponsorships, and other revenue sources. Manage all aspects of the sales cycle which include identifying new prospects, qualifying prospects, making presentations, and securing the resources. The Manager also will work in close partnership with the CCID and One Cumberland staff and Board to retain relationships and advance new funding opportunities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Knowledge and Fundraising

  • Represent the CCID and One Cumberland with a high degree of knowledge of the 6.5-mile Cumberland District, its assets, and opportunities.
  • Research, identify, prepare, and solicit prospects for funding and sponsorship.
  • Identify and prioritize opportunities for new relationships with corporations in the District, raising awareness about the Cumberland District, its assets, and opportunities.
  • Develop and nurture a presence throughout the metro Atlanta region to benefit the Cumberland District.
  • Cultivate, solicit, and manage a portfolio of at least 100 prospects for funding and sponsorship.
  • Track and prepare reports on fundraising progress for the One Cumberland Board of Directors and CCID/One Cumberland Executive Director.
  • Collaborate with Director of Public and Government Affairs on grant opportunities and local, state and federal funding requests.

Relationship Management

  • Establish and maintain relationships with tracking in a customer relationship management (CRM) system (Sales Force).
  • Ensure receipt, timely acknowledgement, reporting, and stewardship of all gifts and donations, including sponsorships.
  • Work closely with the One Cumberland Board of Directors to help achieve the goals set forth in the strategic plan.
  • Provide staff support to all One Cumberland Board Committees as assigned, i.e., Fundraising, Community Activation, and Governance Committees.
  • Collaborate with CCID staff to assure ongoing communications with partners, donors, and prospective supporters.
  • Participate on cross-functional teams to give input on marketing materials and to curate opportunities for institutional fundraising based on One Cumberland’s needs.
  • Lead by demonstrating adherence to the values the CCID and One Cumberland.

Special Projects

  • Lead the development and implementation of strategic planning in collaboration with the One Cumberland Board.
  • Lead the development and implementation of Capital Campaigns as needed to fund projects working in collaboration with the One Cumberland Board, CCID staff, and consultants.
  • Develop, cultivate, and secure sponsorships for the annual Cumberland Community Meeting in collaboration with CCID staff.

Administrative

  • Develop and execute annual individual work plan aligned with One Cumberland’s strategic goals. for business development, with measurable targets and outcomes.
  • Execute work plan within assigned budgetary guidelines.
  • Provide timely reports including customer relationship management reports.
  • Work with supervisor(s) to create and execute a personalized professional development plan.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATIONAL/PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, nonprofit management, public administration or similar area required. MBA, MPA, or master’s degree in related field preferred.
  • 5-7 years’ experience in membership sales, fundraising, corporate social responsibility, and/or nonprofit development required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Customer service oriented
  • Self-starter with ability to initiate prospecting activities, sales calls, and face to face meetings
  • Solid organizational skills with attention to detail and managing multiple projects concurrently
  • Excellent communicator (both verbal and written)
  • Team player
  • Customer relationship management (CRM) system experience (Sales Force)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
