Axle is seeking a Business Analyst to join our vibrant team at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) supporting the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) located in Rockville, MD.

We are seeking a Business Analyst to work in our highly skilled and dynamic software engineering teams in support of our client at the National Institutes of Health. As a core member of the team, you will be involved in ongoing efforts to further the work of helping medical treatments reach people faster. You will be an important contributor to our product teams, working with clients directly to understand and gather requirements from stakeholders, translating these requirements into technical deliverables, and evaluating products to ensure development of a best-in-class applications. This role presents tremendous opportunity for growth and positive impact.

 Responsibilities

• Work with clients and stakeholders to understand requirements for scientific and lab management software applications
• Gather and document requirements using intake sessions, document analysis, surveys, interviews, business process descriptions, use cases, business analysis etc
• Analyze work process flows to develop activity models and detailed requirements
• Provide expert knowledge and advice regarding processes for new application feature submissions, amendments, and continuing reviews in accordance with provided regulations, policies, procedures, frameworks
• Work and coordinate with clients and stakeholders to assess future needs
• Review the development of database specifications, validation plans, and data management plans, ensuring alignment with case report forms, protocol, and safety data standards
• Analyze data management and collection procedures for processes
• Review data management activities and recommend process improvements
• Maintain both ongoing and new process changes with thorough documentation and communication updates
• Review submissions in response to identified problems and resolve issues with recommended expert solutions in a timely manner
• Manage project activities and communications with internal and external team members
• Prepare reports summarizing clinical and research information obtained for the purpose of communication to stakeholders

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field, master’s degree is a plus
• Past expertise in software engineering, QA testing, or related areas a plus
• Demonstrated significant depth and breadth of subject-level expertise
• Strong communication skills including business writing and verbal skills, including presentation skills
• Previous NIH or similar experience strongly preferred
• Experience with other government agencies such as DOE, FDA, and the VA also a plus
• Sound judgment, positive attitude, and creative outlook always required
• Experience in Jira software
