Director Information Technology |
Reports to: VP of Information Technology Last Update: April 4, 2024
Overview: The Director of Information Technology is responsible for the overall planning, organizing, and execution of all IT functions at all locations. This includes directing all IT operations to meet customer requirements as well as the support and maintenance of existing applications and development of new technical solutions.
Essential Duties:
- Analyzes complex business needs presented by the user community and recommends technical solutions. - Directs implementation and execution of new/upgraded information systems via well-defined plans including procedures, deadlines, and accountability. ‐ Ensures the consistency and reliability of existing applications by creating, maintaining, and enforcing standards and procedures. - Recommends and plans information technology to support and meet company objectives based on business knowledge, research and evaluation. - Manages IT department personnel including prioritization of work, training and development and hiring. - Builds and maintains relationships including metrics for accountability with third party partners - Oversight for the networks and computer systems to ensure optimal performance. - Participates on all hardware and software evaluations and maintains vendor contracts. - Evaluates and implements IT procedures and equipment for maximum efficiency and cost containment. - Ensures users/customers are provided professional, courteous, and timely support and service. - Stays abreast of trends and regulations to ensure effectiveness and compliance. - Participates in the development/maintenance of the company Disaster Recovery Plan. - Ensures new technology adheres to information security programs ensuring protection of enterprise communications, systems and assets. - Develops/selects and conducts user training on an as-needed basis. - Develops annual budget for approval and manages spend within budget. Minimum Education and Certification:
- Bachelor's in Computer Science, Engineering, Technology or equivalent from an accredited college or university.
- Master’s degree preferred.
Minimum Experience:
- 10 years relevant experience in an Information Technology role with at least 5 years in a managerial role.
Leadership:
- Manages all resources (personnel, equipment, materials, facilities, budget and reputation) for assigned area.
Sets priorities in order to ensure task completion.
- Manages Managers – leads with influence and people respond to them.
- Advocates for their people.
- Assesses training needs and ensures that team members are receiving proper training and that training programs are utilized and improves technical training gaps.
- Ensures that employees are set up to be successful through the various programs such as feedback and recognition.
- Coaches and counsels managers to improve supervisory, team building and problem resolution skills, as appropriate.
- Responsible for performance management and employee development. Manages hire, fire, job and salary change actions per delegation of authority and required approvals.
- Implements, manages and communicates work standards and performance metrics for assigned team.
