Houston Forensic Science Center, Inc is Hiring a Systems Analyst - Information Technology (IT) Near Houston, TX

Job Description:

Reporting to the Information Technology (IT) Manager, the System Analyst will evaluate and recommend the aligning of cyber security controls for a proper security posture to include securing and automating Identity management and supporting SQL databases.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Review and recommend adjustments to firewalls, encryption programs, and other security software for best security practice.
  • Provide security guidance to remediate security vulnerabilities, risk items, and policy exceptions.
  • Conduct periodic risk assessments and penetration tests and respond to security intrusion.
  • Developing and implementing an incident response plan to enact in the event of a cyber attack, and protective measures.
  • Defining processes to test compliance with cybersecurity policy controls within the business unit.
  • Monitor and perform analysis of log files from a variety of sources (e.g., individual host logs, network traffic logs, and firewall logs) to identify possible threats to network and end-point security.
  • Track and document network security incidents from initial detection through final resolution.
    • Monitor and maintain SQL database hosted on both on-premises and Azure environment.
    • Create reporting using SQL Reporting Services (SRSS), and Crystal Reports
    • Manage the lifecycle of a user account, privilege access management (PAM), single sign-on (SSO), and multi-factor authentication (MFA).
    • Work with the IT manager to ensure consistent growth and continued development of the IT division.
    • May perform other job duties as directed by the IT Manager.
    • Partake in an on-call after hours rotation.
Experience and Skills:

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of five plus years applicable experience in the information technology/information systems field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with managing Identities in Azure, Active Directory, or other cloud instances.
  • Minimum of 2 years configuring firewalls and network devices for best practice to network security.
  • Minimum of 1 year supporting end-point management and security
  • Minimum of 1 year supporting SQL Databases

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven Knowledge in supporting and automating user account life cycle.
  • Demonstrated Knowledge in supporting, backing up, restoring, and maintaining SQL databases.
  • Proven Knowledge of creating automation processes using scripting and SQL language.
  • Demonstrated Knowledge in creating reports displaying decision making data with SQL Reporting Services (SRSS) or Crystal Reports.
  • Proven knowledge in the foundation of building a security posture surrounding a cyber security framework.
  • Direct experience in network protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, UDP, FTP.
  • Knowledge of IT concepts, strategies, methodologies, architectures, and technical standards
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated Knowledge of managing and creating an action plan for security events discovered in a SIEM (Security Event and Incident Management) monitor.
  • Proven Knowledge configuring applications to use Single Sign-On or Multi-Factor Authentication
  • Proven Knowledge of supporting applications in a Microsoft domain and Azure environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in working in Microsoft platforms to include Server 2019, SQL Server, Windows 10 & 11, Office suites, and Azure.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team, managing multiple tasks and working on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent working knowledge of all areas of IT including network administration, IT security, system analyst & architecture, and user support.
