Information Technology Systems Technician II

The Cy-Fair Fire Department (CFFD) is accepting applications for the position of Information Technology (IT) Systems Technician II.

Essential Behavioral Expectations


A. All personnel are expected to use professional courtesy, discretion and sound judgment when engaging in any contact with co-workers, members of the public, vendors, visitors and/or other department personnel.

B. Personnel are also responsible for but not limited to, the following behavioral expectations: maintaining confidentiality of business knowledge and personnel information, maintaining professional relationships while engaging in job-related tasks, cooperating with others to resolve conflict and achieve goals, and maintaining a pleasant attitude while leaving personal business or issues/problems outside the workplace.

Physical Demands:


1. The physical demands and work environment characteristics described are representative of those that must be met or are encountered by personnel to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 2. Ability to work in a standard office environment and to travel to different sites and locations as needed. The work of this classification entails frequent walking, standing, lifting and carrying heavy objects, and the operation of tools and equipment requiring the use of coordinative and manipulative skills.

Required Experience and/or Qualifications:


A. All personnel in good standing, and with the following qualifications, are eligible:

  • Minimum 18 years of age

B. Desired Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Knowledge of:

  • Microsoft Windows operating systems and Office Suite experience
  • Technical skills in Windows Server, DNS/DHCP, Networking, Active Directory and/or Office 365 user account administration experience
  • Proficiency in remote administration to troubleshoot PC's
  • Direct experience with Cisco and VMware products are a big plus

Skills:

  • Outstanding customer service and communication skills
  • Good team player with strong interpersonal skills are desired qualities
  • Desire to learn and be part of a dynamic IT team
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Self-motivated and able to work with little supervision

Ability to:

  • Configure and deploy desktop environments in accordance with the agreed standard configuration to authorized users
  • Troubleshoot network printers
  • Capable of conducting tests of the hardware and/or software affected using supplier test procedures and diagnostic tools. Corrects malfunctions. Documents results in accordance with agreed procedures

C. Education/Degrees:

  • Possession of a high school diploma or an appropriate equivalent
  • 7 years progressively skilled, relevant experience in troubleshooting hardware and software problems in stand-alone and network environments.

D. Certifications/Licenses:

  • Possession of a valid Texas Driver’s license or ability to obtain within thirty (30) days.
  • A or Microsoft certifications preferred

Compensation: $31.22/Hour; $64,937 Annually

Overtime is 1.5 times the hourly rate.

Retirement:

TCDRS 7% employee contribution

14% employer contribution

457B Voluntary retirement account, Employer will match up to 3%

Insurance:

Medical benefits are offered thru Blue Cross Blue Shield.

PPO Plan: The department covers 80% of the employee premium and 60% for family.

There is an optional Gap policy that you can include with the PPO plan.

PPO HSA $3,500: The department covers 100% of the employee premium and 90% for family. The department makes a quarterly contribution towards the HSA account.

PPO HSA $5,000: The department covers 100% of the employee premium and 90% for family. The department makes a quarterly contribution towards the HSA account.

Dental, Vision, Short Term Disability, Long Term Disability and additional Life Insurance are offered thru Principal.

The Department covers 90% of the employee premium and 70% for family for dental and vision.

The Department pays 100% of the premiums for short term disability and long term disability.

Additional Life insurance is available with 100% being paid by the employee.

Department paid $50,000 life insurance policy

Paid vacation and sick time

AFLAC offered at employee’s expense

Schedule: 40 hours; various days, to possibly include evenings and weekends
