Summary:

Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart seeks a mission-driven educator/innovator who understands independent school culture and the role of technology in augmenting faculty and staff efficiency to amplify student achievement. This visionary will help to propel Duchesne into the future through forward-looking technology solutions. He/she is a natural leader who is easy to follow and inspires greatness in students, faculty, and staff, alike. The new Head of Information Technology and Innovation will motivate and instruct others to use the digital space for good and to model ways to do so in service of the mission of the Society of the Sacred Heart.

Primary Responsibilities:

Provide thought leadership and vision around innovation initiatives. 

Collaborate on and implement a strategic and long-range technology and innovation plan. 

Respond in real time to the innovation needs of the entire campus by working collaboratively with school leadership to identify, address, and resolve problems faced by individual and multiple departments. 

Ensure smooth operations of information technology systems and infrastructure. 

Implement, support, and manage technology school-wide. 

Evaluate and establish best practices, policies, and procedures, including planning and budgeting. 

Promote the use of technology to support learning and optimize student achievement in conjunction with the Dean of Innovation, Engineering, and Computer Science.

  • Identify, evaluate, and recommend new and emerging technologies for classroom and administrative uses.
  • Constantly review resources to create more efficient, synergistic technology support for academic and administrative groups. 

Serve as a trusted innovation partner for the Academic Council and Academic Team. 

Act as a liaison among various departments, brokering consensus on technology planning and solutions regarding new and existing platforms. 

Oversee the technical side of the school’s web content platform in collaboration with the Communications and Marketing Department. 

Assume responsibility for other projects as assigned by the HOS. 

Actual Duties:

Manage the Technology and Innovation Department daily, including network infrastructure, security, data operations, and telephone systems. 

  • Ensure the coordination, security, and efficiency of network infrastructure. 
  • Develop and maintain the school’s databases and internal and external networks. 
  • Remain current on new developments in the areas of software, hardware, networks, telecommunications, training, and maintenance.

Lead and develop the Technology and Innovation team to provide quality and reliable information technology services by excelling at the following: 

  • Providing customer service.
  • Communicating effectively.
  •  Adopting operational best practices. 

Provide maintenance and support for all labs, classroom technology, office technology, and audio-visual systems. 

Plan and supervise staff and faculty training. 

Hire, mentor, develop, and retain effective and expert staff. 

Manage vendor relations, procurement, installation, and implementation of information systems. 

Facilitate regular communication with the school community regarding innovation plans, projects, policies, and procedures (including training). 

Oversee project execution.

Manage the Technology and Innovation budget, including the school’s computer/device operating budget. 

  • Manage inventory of all school-owned or leased equipment including desktops/laptops, iPads, Promethean Boards projectors, copiers, printers, etc. 

Enforce information technology policies and compliance standards. 

Requirements

Minimum Education/Prior Experience/Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience in independent school education.
  • Supervisory experience.

Upon Hiring

  • Successful completion of criminal offender record information and sexual offender registry information checks.
  • Successful completion of CMG Safe Environment Training.
  • Current CPR certification.

  • Comply with the policies and procedures as articulated in the faculty and staff handbook. 
  • Authentically engage in the school’s self-reflection process that requires written goals and measured progress towards them.
