LEGACY EARLY COLLEGE OVERVIEW

Legacy Early College is a K4-12 public charter school that originated through the vision of businessman William Brown in 2010 with an unwavering focus on “To and Through College” at every grade level. Legacy’s model combines academics, nutrition, physical fitness and mental health. In addition to our college driven academic standards, meals are made on site, scholars participate in PE every day and Social-Emotional Literacy is integrated in the culture and curriculum. POSITION OVERVIEW

The purpose of the Human Resources Manager is a key operations component of the growth and sustainability of Legacy Early College. This position is responsible for playing an active role in the day-to-day Human Resources operations (e.g. hiring, onboarding, benefits, payroll, compliance, and employee relations) as well as liaising between various internal stakeholders across multiple departments within Legacy Early College.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties

  • Develop and manage a comprehensive and robust annual recruitment plan, specifically strategies to attract top teachers and key performance indicators for success
  • Refine, update, and design the employee handbook annually with verification of employee reception
  • Oversee the management and maintenance of the current HRIS (Kronos) and all functions of payroll
  • Organize and process all employee information and paperwork within the Human Resources database
  • Create a vision for, refine, and oversee the annual onboarding process (100 instructional and non-instructional staff)
  • Manage Legacy-wide policies and procedures to ensure compliance and equity in performance, assessment, and review
  • Collaborate with the Director of Finance on compensation structures, budgetary analysis, and personnel expenditures
  • Investigate ongoing employee relations issues, anticipate problems whenever possible, and develop, recommend, and initiate appropriate steps for resolution
  • Provide advice and guidance to senior leaders, managers, and school leaders on employee issues. Work with managers to develop and implement improvement plans when needed.
  • Compile and communicate all required Federal and statewide compliance reporting through the various internal channels provided
  • Report employment status and updates to the South Carolina Public Charter School District Human Resources department
  • Enroll, update, and transfer all eligible employees in the PEBA insurance system and Vanguard 401k program.
  • Oversee leave administration (FMLA, ADA, STD, WC, etc.)
  • Represent Legacy to external Human Resources vendors
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, required
  • Experience in K5-12 school setting, preferred
  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM certification, preferred
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish), preferred
  • Expertise in benefits, HR policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Experience with Kronos Workforce Ready
  • Collaborative team player; comfortable leading and executing projects as required
  • Track record of identifiable and measurable successes in managing a complex organization and implementing operational change
  • Outstanding organizational skills and high attention to detail
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills.

Work Schedule

This operates on the 240-day schedule based on the Legacy Early College centralized calendar.

Compensation Package

All staff may participate in a 401k with matching employer contributions and have access to the fitness center. Full time staff also qualify for state (PEBA) benefits (medical, vision, dental) and may accrue up to 10 personal days (80 hours) per academic year. 240-day staff may accrue 2 additional personal days, in addition to 5 vacation days per year.

  • Long periods of standing and sitting and having the ability to lift items up to 25lbs. is required.
  • Requires normal/corrected vision and hearing.
  • Position will require travel.
  • Periodic participation in activities to support Legacy Early College is required.

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Position will have periods of extended work week hours, which is required to support both the ongoing development of the region and the delivery of high-quality education for all students.
