LEGACY EARLY COLLEGE OVERVIEW

Legacy Early College is a K4-12 public charter school that originated through the vision of William Brown in 2010 with an unwavering focus on “To and Through College” at every grade level. Legacy’s model combines academics, nutrition, physical fitness and mental health. In addition to our college driven academic standards, meals are made on site, scholars participate in PE everyday and Social-Emotional Literacy is integrated in the culture and curriculum. We currently occupy the site of the historic Parker High School and the former Greenville County Fine Arts Center.

POSITION OVERVIEW

This position provides a range of services to the Administration, Faculty, and Staff of Legacy Early College, focused primarily on building and cultivating relationships with high-quality prospective candidates, screening candidates, and working closely with school teams to ensure schools are fully staffed.

Talent Sourcing, Outreach, and External Relationship-Building

  • Work collaboratively with the Director of HR and the Leadership Team to understand the vision and mission of Legacy Early College and how each position is aligned with that mission.
  • Proactively source candidates through networking, social media, meetings, and other tactics as necessary for current and future openings
  • Review all resumes and conduct the first phone interview for each qualified candidate
  • Develop short- and long-term recruitment calendars in partnership with the talent team to execute best practice strategies and programs to attract a diverse applicant pool
  • Actively keep up-to-date with recruiting industry changes and market trends
  • Attend recruitment events across South Carolina (and sometimes in neighboring states) to represent the organization in a professional manner
  • Plan high-quality recruitment events that attract potential candidates to the organization

Candidate Cultivation and Communication

  • Act as the main point of contact for candidates throughout their recruiting process, including answering emails within a specific time frame and talking to candidates on the phone
  • Create and utilize strong communication touch points for every candidate to ensure high-quality candidate experience, as measured by candidate surveys
  • Screen applicants for specific positions using rubrics and communicate scores to applicable hiring managers
  • Maintain the applicant profiles with interview notes and keep all manager's interview appointments current

Logistics and Data Management

  • Work with the Director of HR and Leadership Team to develop job descriptions.
  • Keep external and internal job postings current on all job boards including LinkedIn, the Legacy Early College website, really, etc.
  • Create detailed outreach records for potential candidates in the applicant tracking system
  • Track metrics related to recruiting (e.g., candidates yielded by each source, time to hire, etc.) to evaluate various strategies and improve hiring efficiency.
  • Own the “day-of” interview/selection process in partnership with School Leaders, including travel coordination with candidates, reference checks, etc..
  • In partnership with the HR Team, develop, execute, and improve systems for onboarding staff.

Internal Relationship Building

  • Build strong, trusting relationships with School Leaders and other hiring managers across the organization by listening to the needs of the hiring manager and translating those needs into key competencies to screen for in candidates
  • Work with School Leaders to coordinate availability, schedule interviews, demo lessons, and/or performance tasks
  • Coordinate offers with School Leaders and HR, as needed, to ensure strong onboarding and matriculating practices are used

Employee Relations:

In partnership with the Director or HR, is responsible for providing guidance, counsel, and support to employees and managers interpersonal and team-building matters as well as the resolution of employee conflicts, communication issues, and personal and professional goals.

  • Works with managers to equip them for effective 1-on-1s and individual coaching sessions with their direct reports to help create high performance teams.
  • This individual will address and provide advice and counsel to managers and employees in the resolution of employee conflicts, development plans, communication issues and personal and professional goals.
  • Serve as a liaison between employees, management, and Human Resources providing information and consultation.
  • Develop and implement employee relations strategies and programs to maintain a positive work environment.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for employee inquiries, concerns, and grievances.
  • Conduct investigations into employee complaints or conflicts, gathering relevant information and recommending appropriate resolutions.
  • Advise and support management in addressing performance issues, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
  • Collaborate with HR partners to ensure consistency in employee relations practices and adherence to company policies and applicable laws.
  • Stay updated on relevant employment laws and regulations to ensure compliance and mitigate risk.
  • Mediate disputes between employees or between employees and management to promote resolution and maintain positive relationships.
  • Participate in the development and delivery of employee engagement initiatives, such as recognition programs, surveys, and team-building activities.

Experience and Education:

  • Minimum of a B.A. in Education, Human Resources, or a similar business discipline
  • Must have 5 years’ experience in education, staff development and conflict resolution
  • Must be highly focused on delivering excellent customer service, being self-driven, and developing effective relationships throughout the organization.
  • Strong written, verbal, presentation & persuasion skills required
  • Excellent time and workload management skill, ability to prioritize, ability to work independently, high attention to detail, and ability to multitask and meet established deadlines.
  • Enthusiastic and positive attitude
  • Develop criteria for evaluating effectiveness of training activities and regularly monitor and report results to management, along with recommendations for improvement as appropriate.
  • Design, develop, update, and deliver professional quality presentations and training materials to include classroom trainings, workbooks, job aids, quick reference guides, webinars, videos, and eLearning
  • Develops and conducts audits to identify training needs and opportunities for performance improvement.

Work Schedule

This position will operate on the centralized Legacy Early College central office calendar, on the 240-day schedule.

  • Long periods of standing and sitting and having the ability to lift items up to 25lbs. is required.
  • Requires normal/corrected vision and hearing.
  • Position will require travel.
  • Periodic participation in activities to support Legacy Early College is required.

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Position will have periods of extended work week hours, which is required to support both the ongoing development of the region and the delivery of high-quality education for all students.
