This position is in the Technology Program Office (TPO) of Berkeley IT and its mission is to plan, foster, and coordinate strategic information technology (IT) projects that serve the needs of the campus community. The TPO provides expert project managers who bring together people, processes, and resources to enable successful project outcomes.

Responsibilities
Project Management
Applies professional project management concepts; and is able to apply IT and project management policies and procedures in managing complex assignments.
Serves as project manager for projects in support of Berkeley IT & RTL's various programs and initiatives involving cross-departmental or cross-functional teams
Assembles and directs small to moderate project teams, designs project plans, schedules and may monitor budget/spending
Monitors the project from initiation through delivery, including oversight of system integration, project and campus communications, interface with vendors and managing risk.
Organizes the interdepartmental and cross departmental activities ensuring completion of project/product on schedule and within budget constraints
Project Governance and Communication
Ensures that stakeholders are kept up-to-date of project developments and are apprised of critical issues
Manages decision-making process (e.g. for scope setting, technical solution selection)
Designs and implements project communication and collaboration processes, protocols, and communications tools for local and distributed teams
Writes project reports and status updates
Coordinates with supervisors and service leads around resource allocation for projects
Assist Senior Project Managers in scheduling, communicating, tracking, and management of their projects when assigned by TPO Manager
Prepare draft communications when required
Project Management Coordination
Assist TPO Manager in the maintenance, updating, and tracking of the TPO project portfolio
Assist the TPO Manager in determining and implementing tools in support of TPO processes
Maintain and update the TPO website as required, including project tools and templates
Helps coordinate with supervisors and service leads around resource allocation and the need for projects
Professional development and training
Required Qualifications
Requires solid communication, organization, and project management skills
Broad knowledge of IT-related initiatives and an understanding of impact to organization of such initiatives
Requires strong conceptual and planning skills to understand how projects relate to business strategies and initiatives
Must have the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
Must be able to work collaboratively to achieve results
Must be able to work with a diverse group of people
Must have excellent skills in business organization and operations management
Requires the ability to assess campus needs for information technology products and recommend services to meet those needs
Knows how to schedule projects using duration and predecessor relationships with common tools (SmartSheet or MS Project)
In-depth knowledge of Smartsheet or a related application such as Excel, including formulas and dashboards
Education and Training
Bachelor's degree in related area or equivalent training / experience or 3 or more years of related experience in technical project management of projects of medium size/complexity and moderate risk
