Summary

The Human Resource Department is critical to ensuring The King Center recruits and maintains qualified exceptional team members who are dedicated to advancing humanity. Under the direction of the Senior Director of Human Resources, the Human Resource Associate (HRA) will perform administrative tasks and services to support effective and efficient operations of the organization’s human resources department. In this role, you will be responsible for obtaining and recording HR information, managing the HR database, and assisting company employees with enrollment procedures and HR-related issues.

To ensure success as an HR associate, you should have excellent communication skills, good interpersonal skills, and a good understanding of employment law. Ultimately, a top-notch HRA is well organized, efficient, and possesses the ability to multitask and acclimatize in a fast-paced environment.

To ensure success, HRA will display remarkable conflict management and decision-making skills with a solid understanding of employee relationships, staffing management, and payroll and benefits administration. The HRA is superb at problem-solving, efficient in scheduling and precise in the recruitment process.

Requirements

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Support all internal and external HR related inquiries or requests
  • Assist with day-to-day operations of the HR department
  • Support HR with maintaining employee records and entering/updating information into the HRIS (Paylocity)
  • Assist Senior Director of HR (SDHR) with open enrollment, orientation, and employee relations when needed
  • Provide clerical and administrative support to the HRD
  • Help create and post job descriptions, review resumes and screenings
  • Schedule meetings, and interviews, and maintain agendas
  • With the SDHR, assist with the recruitment process by identifying candidates, conducting pre-screens and performing reference checks
  • Coordinate communication with candidates
  • Assist with performance management procedures
  • Coordinate training sessions and seminars
  • Keep up to date with the latest HR trends and best practices
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Three years proven experience as an HR Assistant or relevant human resources/administrative position
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Proficient with payroll management, human resource information system (HRIS), and similar computer applications (Paylocity would be a plus)
  • Familiarity with ATS software and resume databases
  • Basic knowledge of labor laws
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Strong communications skills
  • Degree in Human Resources or related field is preferred

  • Knowledge of the King Center’s founder, Coretta Scott King (My Life, My Love, My Legacy)

  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to create effective partnerships
  • Strong collaboration and teamwork
  • High energy, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
