Job Summary:
The Senior IT Project Manager is responsible for planning and coordinating all aspects of IT projects, from initiation to delivery. They oversee the execution of projects within agreed-upon deadlines and budgets, acquire necessary resources, and coordinate efforts among team members and external contractors. This role involves defining project objectives, ensuring quality delivery, and managing larger and more complex projects compared to non-Senior Project Managers. The Senior IT Project Manager operates at a fully seasoned professional level, capable of independently handling most assignments.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None.

Supervision Received: Depending on the organizational structure, may work independently with responsibility for an assigned function or program under general supervision.

Duties/Responsibilities:
General Duties:

  • Manages IT projects involving network, server, or software implementation and upgrades, PC deployment, and similar tasks.
  • Coordinates work between IT staff and internal customers/partners by defining project requirements and assessing feasibility.
  • Develops detailed project plans, manages implementation processes, tracks progress, monitors change control, conducts testing, documentation, training, and ensures on-time delivery within budget.

Strategy & Planning:

  • Defines project scope, goals, and deliverables in alignment with business objectives.
  • Communicates project expectations clearly and timely to team members and stakeholders.
  • Liaises with project stakeholders regularly to ensure alignment and manage expectations.
  • Plans project timelines and milestones, tracks progress, and manages project expectations.
  • Conducts project postmortems to identify successful and unsuccessful elements, and develops best practices for future projects.

Acquisition & Deployment:

  • Estimates resources and participants required for project goals.
  • Drafts and submits budget proposals and recommends changes as necessary.
  • Negotiates with other department managers for required personnel.
  • Identifies the need for additional staff or consultants and recruits them if necessary.

Operational Management:

  • Directs and manages project development from start to finish.
  • Develops comprehensive project plans and communication documents.
  • Delegates tasks and responsibilities, resolves issues and conflicts within the project team.
  • Identifies and manages project dependencies and critical paths.
  • Provides progress reports, proposals, and presentations.
  • Proactively manages changes in project scope and devises contingency plans.
  • Mentors and supervises project team members and contractors, fostering positive action and accountability.
  • Builds and maintains business relationships crucial for project success.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Extensive knowledge of project management concepts, processes, and tools.
  • Strong technical skills within project management.
  • Proficiency in personal computer usage, connectivity, networking, and troubleshooting IT systems.
  • Ability to plan and execute typical assignments within the professional area, train others, and build effective relationships within the organization.

Education and Experience:
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or business.
  • 5 years of specific professional experience, such as team or project lead.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or business.
  • 5-8 years of experience in the field.

Licensures and Certifications: None required.

Essential Capabilities and Work Environment: Physical, lifting, and sensory capabilities necessary to perform the job successfully. Typical environmental conditions associated with the job.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $34.00 - $53.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
