Training and Development Specialist

Position Type: Full-time, Exempt, Salary

Reports to: VP of Human Resources

Supervisory Responsibility: None

Location: Jacksonville, FL

Summary

The Training and Development Specialist will develop training programs, coordinate change management initiatives, and review current development programs to ensure they align to company goals.


Essential Functions

  • Plans, designs, develops, and implements all aspects of a company's organizational and instructional development function.
  • Collects data for, creates, and modifies curriculum for diverse types of audiences and learning delivery methods.
  • Supports employee development, measures employee performance to gauge success of programs, and identifies areas for improvement.
  • Formulates leadership development, team development, and organizational communication programs and practices.
  • Works on advanced, complex technical projects or business issues requiring state of the art technical or industry knowledge.
  • Assesses training and development needs through surveys, interviews, focus groups, and communication with managers, instructors, and customer representatives.
  • Creates, organizes, plans, and presents various forms of onboarding, orientation, and skills training for employees and customers.
  • Develops unique training programs to fulfill workers specific needs to maintain or improve job skills.
  • Creates and/or acquires training procedure manuals, guides, and course materials.
  • Presents training and development programs using various forms and formats including group discussion, lecture, simulations, and videos.
  • Maintains records of training and development activities, attendance, results of tests and assessments, and retraining requirements.
  • Assesses training materials prepared by instructors.
  • Evaluates program effectiveness through assessments, surveys, and feedback.
  • Maintains knowledge of the latest trends in training and development.
  • Prepares and implements training budget; maintains records and reports of expenses.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
  • Prepares for ISO 9001 and other audits.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment and in a manufacturing facility. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop, kneel, talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This position may require occasional weekend work.


Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, organizational development or related field.
  • 5 years of experience in training and development roles.
  • Experience with accessing training needs.
  • Experience creating training manuals, online learning modules and course materials.
  • Experience delivering training to employees.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.


Preferred Education and Experience

  • Certified Professional in Talent Development (CPTD)


Work Authorization

Must be authorized to work in USA.
