Description

Position Title: Manager, Corpsmember Development

Compensation: $70,000 to $92,050 annually

Schedule: Generally within office hours, which are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The nature of this position may require occasional evening and weekend availability.

Location: 1560 Berger Drive, San Jose, CA 95112 with up to 25% travel time between various SJCC CS job sites

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Assistant Principal, the Corpsmember Development Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring the strategic objectives of the Corpsmember Development department are met through monthly tracking and execution of corpsmember journey program activities, such as: the development and implementation of career preparation programs, vocational training pathways, and job placement assistance. This position oversees the day-to-day operations of the CTE and Corps Futures teams consisting of 6 direct reports, ensuring that staff conduct training effectively and efficiently. This position is responsible for managing a variety of grants and ensuring compliance with requirements for certification.

This position also works closely with SJCC CS Social Enterprise Program Managers and their administrative staff to ensure high-quality implementation, long-term sustainability and strategic growth of SJCC CS' mission, goals and vision to meet corpsmembers' needs through wrap-around support during a corpsmember's journey at SJCC and a successful post-program transition.

Job Duties:

Program Management

  • Create and oversee the implementation of strategies and work plans for corpsmember training, education and postsecondary futures.
  • Oversee a team of six direct reports, providing leadership and guidance to ensure their professional growth and development and that the goals of the departments are being met.
  • Ensure corpsmember records are maintained correctly and efficiently to achieve program outcomes and certifications. Collaborate with direct reports to update forms and processes, and assist with data tracking and reports to describe and summarize results as needed for audit requests.
  • Evaluate corpsmember programming (monthly evaluations, training progression, JT orientation, etc.) and special projects (internships) to enhance team work plan and activities that support corpsmember retention, journey/experience, and success post-program.

Corpsmember Journey

  • Manage the Corpsmember Training and Education team as they execute all training for SJCC corpsmembers, including events such as: job training orientation and training sessions.
  • Collaborate with SJCC’s Social Enterprise staff to develop a comprehensive training and development program for corpsmembers that is tailored to their program’s corpsmember journey.
  • Plan, develop, and implement targeted training to support corpsmembers develop technical skills to successfully engage in their department’s daily operations.
  • Collaborate with CTE staff to identify training needs for corpsmembers based on quarterly performance and progression. In order to develop an action plan based on data results to support Corpsmembers’ achievement and success in completion of their SJCC journey.
  • Utilize feedback gained in coaching sessions by Leadership Team to improve corpsmember journey, wrap-around supports and training for corpsmembers throughout their SJCC experience.
  • In collaboration with the Social Enterprise Program Senior Managers and Leadership Team, establish and implement a coaching process for operational staff (Field Site Supervisors) to ensure high-quality and long-term sustainability of a corpsmember’s journey.

Strategic Planning

  • Prepare and deliver presentations to the Board and leadership team, reporting on program outcomes and progress towards strategic goals.
  • Lead brainstorming sessions with the team to design effective training programs and initiatives.
  • Observe presenters and provide feedback to enhance training delivery and effectiveness.
  • Manage grant reporting requirements, ensuring timely and accurate submission of reports.

Facilitation and Partnerships

  • Support CTE team in leading workshop sessions that train operational staff of the best practices and integration of corpsmember wrap-around support services, job training orientation, monthly evaluation, corpsmember portfolio and departmental training progression, etc.
  • Integration of career development and experiential learning to ensure that corpsmembers are well prepared to articulate their professional abilities and receive the skills necessary to transition to a career successfully.
  • Develop and manage external relationships with partners that provide the training, learning, and development of corpsmembers and staff.
  • Improve the management of current and develop new collaborative partnerships with local community colleges, corporations, foundations, and community-based organizations to support internships, career preparation, development and placement for all corpsmembers.
  • Attend and participate in volunteering and fundraising events that help with recruitment, training and corpsmember retention.

Corpsmember Post-Program Support

  • Support Corps Futures in identifying and developing targeted workshops and activities (career fairs, college tours, speaker series, etc.) that allow corpsmembers to explore post-secondary programs that ensure corpsmembers are equipped with the resources and skills needed to be successful in their career pathway, college / vocational / trade program, and above all life post-SJCC.
  • Ensure Corps Futures staff meet one-on-one with corpsmembers to discuss post-secondary goals, develop individualized plans, and track progress.
  • Coordinate and share opportunities to inform corpsmembers and staff of post-secondary options and equip corpsmembers with specific skills required for post-secondary life (i.e., interviewing skills, filling out job or college applications, etc.)

Salary and Benefits

  • Salary: $70,000 to $92,050 annually. The salary is based on a level of experience and education that significantly exceeds the minimum requirements and is commensurate with the compensation scale (salary range)

Work Environment & Requirements

Position may require prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, squatting and stooping in the performance of daily activities. The position also requires grasping, repetitive hand movement and fine coordination in using a computer keyboard. The incumbent may be required to drive a vehicle up to 35% of the time. The position may require the incumbent to occasionally lift up to 25lbs. Additionally, the position requires far and near vision when driving, reading, and using a computer. Acute hearing is required when providing phone and personal service. The nature of the work may require the incumbent to work evenings, weekends and holidays.

Employment At-Will

**SJCC CS IS A MANDATORY COVID-19 VACCINATION EMPLOYER**

If a new hire is in the process of being vaccinated, their start date may be adjusted to a future date after they have been vaccinated.
