POSITION TITLE: Director of Human Resources

REPORTS TO: Executive Director

Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY:Under the supervision of the Executive Director (ED), the Director of Human Resources is part of the Executive Team. The DHR plan, lead, direct, develop, and coordinate the policies, activities, and staff of the Human Resource (HR) department, ensuring legal compliance and implementation of the organization’s mission and talent strategy.

90 % Leadership & Direction (including supervision of staff, volunteers or students)

• Perform all aspects of job in a way that allows for consumers to have maximum choice, independence, and inclusion.

• Always represent self and RISE UP in a positive way.

• Participate as a member of the RISE UP Executive/Leadership Team.

• Incident Reports/Critical Incident Reporting including Fact Finding

• Applied coaching and mentoring, through direct and in-direct supervisory responsibilities including performance evaluations.

• Collaborates with senior leadership to understand the organization's goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention.

• Plans, leads, develops, coordinates, and implements policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support the organization's human resource compliance and strategy needs.

• Administers or oversees the administration of human resource programs including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.

• Identifies staffing and recruiting needs; develops and executes best practices for hiring and talent management.

• Conducts research and analysis of organizational trends including review of reports and metrics from the organization's human resource information system (HRIS) or talent management system.

• Monitors and ensures the organization's compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance.

• Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to upper management.

• Facilitates professional development, training, and certification activities for HR staff.

• Performs other duties as required.

10% Administrative/other:

Assistance with and working knowledge of scheduling procedures.

• Fill in direct support shifts on an emergency basis, if needed

• Assistance with and working knowledge of EVV and MITC/MAPC.

• Cross training on duties with others on the Leadership/Executive Team to ensure smooth functioning of the organization.

• Payroll

• Attend in-services training courses, team meetings, and all other meetings as required.

• Complete all necessary required reporting or paperwork.

• Communicate with necessary teams and others on consumer progress and plans.

• Participate in forwarding the mission, vision values and goals of RISE UP.

• Participate in and take responsibility for own learning, seeking feedback on performance

• Maintain confidentiality.

• Includes on-call duties. Coordinate and participate in Manager On Call system including, and taking a regular rotation as the after-hours Manager-On-Call

• Perform other duties as assigned or as developedPOSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

• Position requires driving: a car, driver’s license, and valid car insurance with a good driving record are also required.

• Experience working formally or informally with elderly and/or people with disabilities.

• Comfortable being in public with consumers.

• Have motivation and desire to do an excellent job!

• Be able to meet and adapt to the changing needs of a consumer and your team.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:*

Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a related field and combination of at least 5 years of proven leadership, supervision and direct care experience.

• Valid Wisconsin driver's license, reliable vehicle, and auto insurance.
