JOB DESCRIPTION

Human Resources Assistant

Position: Part-time, non-exempt position.

Benefits Include: Paid holiday’s, sick leave, vacation leave, and a 20-hour workweek.

Office Location: Fresno Office

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

The Human Resources Assistant (HR Assistant) will report directly to the Executive Director and will work closely with the Operations Manager. This position will assist in strengthening all HR processes and will work on multiple projects to ensure practices are consistent, efficient, and equitable. The HR Assistant will use excellent communication to work collaboratively as a staff member of RICV and will foster a positive culture, mediate relationships between employees, and assist in maintaining a safe comfortable work environment whether in a physical or virtual space.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Three years’ experience working with the Human Resources industry.
  • Previous Knowledge and/or motivation to learn of The Independent Living movement and philosophy.
  • Personal experience with a disability preferred and/or previous knowledge of working with people with disabilities is a plus.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, organizational, time-management, and people skills.
  • Ability to work in an ever changing, fast-paced, creative environment.
  • Ability to problem solve in a quick and efficient manner.
  • Skilled in use of Microsoft Office suite of products
  • Word, Outlook, Power Point, and Excel
  • Skilled in use of Google Suite of products: Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, Docs, Slides, Sheets, and Forms
  • Ability to travel throughout the RICV catchment area of Fresno, Kings, Madera, Merced, and Tulare Counties, if needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Explore equitable strategies in ensuring RICV’s onboarding processes are strengthened.
  • Supports with onboarding tasks as required.
  • Supports with job posting, reference checks and phone screening if needed.
  • Ensures staff access to relevant policies and procedures in a format that is accessible to them.
  • Create needed policies and procedures and seek input from stakeholders as necessary.
  • Audit policy and procedures on an annual basis
  • Review and update staff performance evaluation tool that is formatted in a way that everyone can access.
  • Ensure staff performance evaluations for staff are filed and performed when required.
  • Develop a smooth process for responding and tracking staff complaints/concerns.
  • Review and respond to letter to HR within a required timeframe written in a letter.
  • Receive input from managers and director on these responses as necessary.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned.
