ReScape is Hiring a Project Manager Near San Francisco, CA

About us

ReScape is a nonprofit that educates about and advocates for a whole-systems regenerative approach to landscaping that works in harmony with the natural world and addresses the changing environment.

Foundational to our work is a nature based, whole systems watershed framework that acknowledges that one landscaping input affects the whole ecosystem. All aspects of a healthy community, including of nature communities, must be in coordinated partnership with one another and speak to local geography, as well as regional impact, and rely on management techniques based on sound scientific data, tools, and techniques.

ReScape California initially began as the Bay-Friendly Landscaping & Gardening Coalition in 2009. The Coalition evolved to become ReScape California in 2015, and grew further when EcoLandscape California merged with ReScape in 2017.

ReScape advocates for state and regional policies that encourage and enable positive investments and implementation measures to address the climate emergency.

We work with public agencies and municipalities, government entities and communities who hire our 8 Principles professionals trained in ReScape policy-driven landscape standards and practices.

ReScape is seeking an experienced Project Manager (PM) to oversee all aspects of program projects connected to grants and contract deliverables. This is a hybrid position and it requires some time in-person in our San Francisco offices and at project or training sites in different locations in California. Key Responsibilities:

Project Management:

- Oversee planning, budgeting, scheduling, and implementation of projects. 

- Monitor and control multiple projects ensuring completion within scope, budget, and timeframe. 

- Utilize project management tools and techniques to ensure project success. 

- Ensure compliance with regulations and policies. 

Communication and Relationship Management:

- Maintain effective relationships with participants, communities, clients, and stakeholders. 

- Provide regular reports and updates to upper management and clients. 

- Delegate tasks based on team members’ individual strengths and experience levels. 

Risk and Resource Management:

- Identify and resolve project issues and conflicts. 

- Perform risk management to minimize project risks. 

- Manage resources including personnel, materials, and financial resources. 

- Ensure resource availability and allocation. 

Documentation and Compliance:

- Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.

- Develop spreadsheets, diagrams, and process maps to document needs.

- Proactively manage changes to project scope, schedule, and costs.

Leadership and Development:

- Develop leadership skills and keep abreast with the latest project management trends.

- Attend conferences and training to maintain proficiency.

- Innovate, solve problems and make decisions with the collective intelligence of a group.

Required Skills & Competencies:

- Project planning, implementation, monitoring, and closing of complex projects, with multiple partners, deliverables, and stakeholders. Project management certification is a plus (PMP, PRINCE II).

- Solid organizational, multitasking, and attention-to-detail skills. 

- Ability to work independently and in a team, in a fast-paced environment. 

- Strong interpersonal, client-facing, and both written and verbal communication skills. 

- Proficient in Office 365 and project management software like MS Project, Monday, etc. 

- Project risk management, quality assurance, and project tracking. 

- Project finance management.

- Project procurement according to the State of California procedures.

Required Experience and Knowledge:

- Experience in managing grant-funded projects.

- Minimum 5 years’ experience in successfully managing projects with multiple partners and stakeholders and a budget of at least 500K. 

- Knowledge of environmental, climate change issues, and landscape design practices are a plus. 

- Interested in ReScape’s 8 Regenerative Principles and knowledge of regenerative landscaping practices. 

- Experience in leading and directing the work of others and supervising vendors/contractors.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Landscape Design, Environmental Studies, Urban Planning, Community Development, or a related field is preferred. 

- 5 years of related experience and/or certification. 

- Current ReScape Qualified Professional or willing to obtain Qualification is a plus.
