Job Title: Customer Service Representative (Long-Term Care Pharmacy)

Overview: As a Customer Service Representative (CSR) in our long-term care pharmacy setting, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the highest level of satisfaction and support for our clients, who often include nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and hospices. Your responsibilities will involve interacting with nurses, administrative staff, and patients to address inquiries, provide information, and facilitate smooth prescription processing and delivery. This position requires exceptional communication skills, empathy, and attention to detail to uphold our commitment to delivering outstanding service in the complex landscape of long-term care pharmacy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Customer Interaction: Serve as a key point of contact for our long-term care clients, handling inbound calls, and other inquiries promptly and professionally. Build and maintain strong relationships through attentive, courteous, and empathetic communication.
  • Patient Advocacy: Advocate for patients' needs by effectively communicating with healthcare professionals, caregivers, and family members to address concerns, and answer questions.
  • Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain comprehensive and accurate records of all customer interactions, prescription orders, and related communications in accordance with HIPAA and other privacy regulations. Utilize pharmacy management software and other tools to track order status, and customer preferences.
  • Problem Resolution: Proactively identify and resolve issues or discrepancies related to orders, billing, or medication management, escalating complex problems to the appropriate personnel as needed to ensure timely resolution.
  • Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the ongoing improvement of customer service processes and procedures by providing feedback, suggesting enhancements, and participating in training and development opportunities to expand knowledge and skills.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in pharmacy technician or healthcare-related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in customer service, preferably in a healthcare or pharmacy setting.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to empathize with customers and build rapport over the phone and through written communication.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including pharmacy management software, Microsoft Office suite, and internet navigation.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and efficiency.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, prescription medications, and insurance billing processes is a plus.
  • Commitment to upholding confidentiality and privacy standards in handling sensitive patient information.

Working Conditions:

· This position primarily operates in a closed-door pharmacy setting.

· The role involves regular interaction with customers and pharmacy staff via telephone, email, and other communication channels.

· Some flexibility in scheduling may be required to accommodate peak business hours and occasional weekend or evening shifts.
