Manager of Development
The Organization
Project Guardianship (PG) provides legal guardianship services for older adults and people living
with disabilities and mental illness in New York who have no family or friends able to assist
them. PG’s team approach provides guardianship clients with services that allow them to be as
independent and in the least restrictive setting possible. Since 2005, PG has served hundreds of
New Yorkers and has become a leading voice in a national, interdisciplinary effort to re-envision
and strengthen guardianship policy. More recently, PG created training and advocacy initiatives
to help improve older adult and disability services throughout New York and to ensure that
older residents have access to good guardianship and other decision-making support services,
regardless of their ability to pay.
The Position
Reporting to the Director of Development and Communications, the Manager of Development
is responsible for implementing PG’s fundraising strategy. This includes drafting and submitting
grant proposals and reports, managing individual donor campaigns, corresponding with funders
and donors, and tracking all development activities. The ideal candidate will enjoy and be very
good at writing and project management.
Responsibilities
• Implement the organization’s fundraising strategy with a focus on annual revenue goals
• Draft and submit grant proposals and reports to existing funders
• Draft and submit letters of inquiry and applications to prospective funders
• Manage individual donor campaigns, including our year-end appeal
• Collaborate with program staff to develop content for grant reports and proposals
• Collaborate with communications staff to develop materials and content for individual
donor campaigns
• Track all development activities in Salesforce
• Manage various timelines and due dates, including for grant submissions and reports
• Create presentations (PowerPoint or Google Slides) for meetings with funders
• Support the efforts of the Board Fundraising Committee
• Draft and send acknowledgements for all grants and donations
• Support PG leadership with funder and donor identification, cultivation, and
engagement
• Stay current on best practices in non-profit fundraising, including emerging trends and
regulations
Qualifications
• Commitment to the mission and vision of the organization
• Familiarity with elder and disability justice movements
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to navigate complex and nuanced topics such as guardianship
• Ability to create highly engaging written content
• Prior job experience in nonprofit development
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage concurrent projects and related
tasks
• Preferred knowledge of software including Microsoft Office, Salesforce, Canva, and
Constant Contact
Compensation
• $55,000 - $70,000 annually
• Generous paid time off (vacation and sick), health care, life insurance, disability
insurance, commuter, and retirement benefits
• 13 paid holidays
This role is hybrid; depending on the location of the employee, they may be required to work
from our office in Dumbo, Brooklyn 1 to 2 times per week.
