Synchron, LLC is Hiring a Sr Strategy, Business Development, and Upstream Marketing Manager Near Brooklyn, NY

As the first company to conduct clinical trials of a minimally invasive brain-computer interface, Synchron is in a unique position with the potential to restore human capabilities to people with paralysis. There have been 10 clinical trial participants implanted with the company’s technology. This is an opportunity to help shape next steps on the pathway to a commercial product as part of a dynamic, multi-disciplinary and growing team.

We are currently seeking to fill the position of Sr Strategy, Business Development, and Upstream Marketing Manager. This position is located in New York City, and ability to travel into Brooklyn is ideal. 

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Sr Strategy, Business Development, and Upstream Marketing Manager will be the marketing expert across a range of diagnostic and therapeutic applications for Synchron’s Stentrode. They will have a strong understanding of upstream marketing, including competencies in: market assessment, competitive intelligence, requirements development, road mapping, and scenario planning to build platform strategies for long-term business value.

The Sr Strategy, Business Development, and Upstream Marketing Manager will translate market and technical knowledge gained into tangible outputs including opportunity assessments, technology feasibility points, customer requirements, pre and post market claim strategies, and competitive analysis.

In this role you will use your ability to think strategically and participate actively in decision analysis using internal and external data, problem formulation, meeting facilitation, data collection, financial model development and implementation, and presentations to senior management.


Responsibilities: 

  • Strategy Development and Execution
    • Lead the business activities for the development of product line expansions, platform strategies and future vision, including needs finding, market sizing, and defining clinical value propositions.
    • Act as a business partner to R&D as the core team member on platform expansion programs
    • Collaborate with commercial and R&D teams to ensure a robust R&D pipeline, including roadmap ownership.
    • Assist in development of portfolio management and business development tools for opportunity identification, opportunity evaluation, opportunity valuation, and opportunity prioritization.
    • Develop detailed product proposals and product presentations. 
    • Develop strong “hand off” to Downstream marketing at the appropriate phase of product development
  • Market Knowledge and Development
    • Develop market research and analysis for new technology / products, competing products and companies within target diagnostics, therapies, and clinical indications. 
    • Identify market opportunities and work closely with R&D and commercial team members to implement development strategies. 
    • With market research, competitive intelligence & partner engagements, keep abreast of key market drivers, trends and changes in the competitive & commercial landscape.
    • Quantify tradeoffs in R&D, clinical, reimbursement, and regulatory strategies to recommend best paths to market 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree required
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in marketing, product management or similar, or advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years relevant experience in marketing, product management or similar 
  • Strategic agility, structured thinking, and intellectual curiosity. Ability to turn detailed data analyses into succinct, useful strategic insight.
  • Self-starter, comfortable taking initiative and leading/project managing multiple projects at once. 
  • Strong written and oral communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a high-performance consulting or strategic planning environment demanding a sophisticated approach to understanding financial/market models, competitive trends and business impact.
  • Ability to achieve results by working cross-functionally and collaboratively across a matrix organization, including scoping and managing projects.
  • Strong project management skills and tangible experience achieving results.
  • Thorough understanding of executional aspects of upstream marketing, including experience in a position in an upstream marketing or product development role with a medical device or healthcare company
  • Experience creating marketing/customer requirement documents and or new product business plans
  • Working understanding of financial documents- Income statements, expense budgeting, financial decision-making methods

SALARY: $140k - $170k
