Officina at The Wharf is Hiring a Pastry Cook Near Washington, DC

Officina [oh · fee · she · nah], or “workshop,” is an Italian-inspired culinary collective from Chef Nicholas Stefanelli of Michelin-star Masseria. Officina is the realization of Chef Stefanelli's career-long dream to bring the very best of Italian gastronomy together under one roof.

In terms of both cuisine and service, our standards are high – and so are those of our guests.

As a pastry cook you will be responsible for preparing a variety of baked goods as well as artisan breads and pastries. You will also be working directly with the pastry chef and other bakers in order to produce the best quality for guests.

Required Qualifications:

*Minimum of 1 years of experience in a bakery or related environment

*Knowledge of basic baking techniques

*Contribute to weekly staff education meetings 

Key Responsibilities:

*Prepare a wide variety of high-end baked goods including artisan breads and pastries 

*Operate baking equipment including planetary mixer, deck ovens, combi ovens, etc. 

*Produce bakery items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen team

*Ensure that baked goods are produced in a timely fashion for morning delivery and sale 

*Maintain a clean and orderly station and adhere to health and safety standards

*Monitor baking pantry (ingredients, materials, equipment, etc) and communicate any discrepancies 

*Answer, report, and follow the Executive Pastry Chef and/or Pastry Sous Chef’s instructions

Physical Requirements:

*Ability to lift up to 50lbs. 

*Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time

*All employees are to maintain a neat and well-groomed appearance (specifics will be provided)
