Overview
The Director of Finance plans and directs all aspects of financial, accounting, purchasing, and internal control functions for Food & Beverage by performing the following duties, personally or through subordinate supervisors. The Director of Finance directly supervises the Finance Department and Office employees and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with OVG’s policies and applicable laws. Other responsibilities include overseeing the interviewing, hiring of fulltime employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; performance appraisals; assisting with disciplining employees in conjunction with Human Resources; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
This role will pay a salary of $130,000 to $150,000.

McCormick Place located in downtown Chicago is the largest and most flexible convention center in North America., With over 2.6 million square feet of exhibition space, the campus proudly hosts some of the world’s largest and most prestigious conventions, meetings, and trade shows, welcoming approximately 3 million visitors to Chicago every year.
Responsibilities
  • Assists in the development and implementation of facility goals and priorities relating to financial management, budget, accounting, purchasing, and/or payroll in compliance with State and Federal law, and policies and procedures.
  • Monitors compliance with all provisions of the management contract.
  • Maintains contact with Risk Management Department and Insurance broker for coordination of appropriate coverage.
  • Prepares financial statements for the Client and Corporate, and other financial reports, including monthly statements, Annual Budget and Annual Report.
  • Directs the installation and maintenance of accounting records to show receipts and expenditures.
  • Directs the maintenance of general and subsidiary ledgers, accounts receivable, revenue distribution, depreciation, cost, property, and operating expenses, and insurance records.
  • Analyzes financial performance and cost analyses for Food & Beverage, prepares monthly financial statements, recommends appropriate actions/changes in order to meet business goals.
  • Prepares statements and reports of estimated future costs and revenues.
  • Coordinates preparation of Client or external audit materials and financial reporting; implements recommendations of Client as requested.
  • Provide supervision of accounting department. Responsibilities include hiring, training, developing, managing and mentoring staff of 2-8 FT/PT employees. Oversee accounting practices of staff for quality control (A/R, A/P, payroll, general accounting, clerical and archiving functions).
  • Oversee submission of biweekly payroll to corporate Finance Department for processing. Includes preparing timely payroll expense reports, event and labor cost summaries. Oversee benefits calculations and recording; payroll journal entries.
  • Provide accounting support to company departments. Reconcile sales reports prior to month end postings. Oversee document coding. Calculate commissions earned.
  • Collect data from multiple sources and generate reports of OVG Hospitality event operating results to venue management team and the corporate Finance Department. Includes generating P&L’s, franchise season reports, catering activity recaps and sales reports. Perform month end closing, reconciliations and entries.
  • Safeguard company assets through close monitoring of accounting procedures; conduct audits as needed. Reconcile bank deposits to sales reports, inventory levels, payroll reporting, A/P and A/R activities.
  • Prepare current workbooks containing financial information by event type. Supervise preparation of Subcontractor and Third Party sales reports by event, and payroll reporting by event types.
  • Assist operations management with company vault functions, as needed.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality on highly sensitive private and/or proprietary information, without exception.
Qualifications
  • B.S. in Accounting or Finance from a four-year college or university. (preferred)
  • 7 years of experience in public accounting and/or financial management at a supervisory level or as department head.
  • Acts as Manager on Duty as required. Must work nights and weekends if required.
  • Entrepreneurial minded leader who can lead and present financial results to ownership groups
  • Experience in corporate controller functions, ability to manage complex accounting systems, payroll management systems
  • Large scale operational support knowledge required, hotel, convention center or catering experience a plus
  • Be a business partner with other departments insuring financial success of the venue.
  • Extensive knowledge of general and cost accounting.
  • Excellent math skills; high aptitude for figures.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and organizational ability.
  • Effective supervisory skills.
  • Must pass background and credit check per guidelines
  • Experience with ADP payroll preferred.
  • Industry experience is preferred.
  • CPA or MBA a plus
