The Nueces Center for Mental Health and Intellectual Disabilities (MHID) is dedicated to helping the residents of Nueces County who are living with mental illness and/or intellectual and developmental disabilities. We serve over 10,000 people each year with psychiatric and behavioral health care outpatient services, counseling, training, employment assistance, housing support, homeless outreach, children's mental health care and more.

Salary: "Please note that the job posting rate for this position is $57,928 to $64,225.81, the salary offered will follow the starting salary guidelines which are typically made at or near the minimum of the salary range. However, a salary may be negotiated above the minimum range depending on applicable years of experience and qualifications."

Full-Time, 40 Hour Work Week, Paid Bi-weekly

General Description

Responsible for deliveryof intensive medication services, education, and rehabilitative training forconsumers on the Forensic Assertive Community Treatment caseload; coordinationof consumer's medical-related needs in order to maintain stability in thecommunity and achieve independence; crisis prevention and intervention. Works as a team member along with others onthe Forensic Assertive Community Treatment team. Under general supervision of the Forensic ACTteam supervisor, identifies client's rehabilitation and medication relatedneeds outlined in the client evaluations, which assist the clients in attainingtheir optimum levels of independence. Provides medication-related services in the community. The job requiresavailability after hours, an automobile and extensive community travel forservice provision, with a flexible schedule and hours.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience innursing work. Graduation from an accredited four-year college oruniversity with major coursework in nursing or from an accredited nursingprogram. 

One(1) year of work experience as an RN in a recognized health agency, hospital,or health care facility. 

Musthave reliable transportation. May use personal vehicle to conduct business.Must have a valid driver's license at all times, liability insurance and a gooddriving record.

Registration, Certification, or Licensure:

Must be registered as a registered nurse by the State ofTexas or a state that recognizes reciprocity through the Nurse LicensureCompact.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Inthe course of being employed, understands and implements trauma informed carepractices.
  • Knowledgeof nursing techniques and procedures.
  • Abilityto train others; to provide patient care; and to prepare and maintain records.
  • Administersmedication and observes patients for unusual symptoms and favorable orunfavorable reactions.
  • Conductsassessments of client health needs and makes appropriate referrals.
  • Providespecialized nursing services for individuals, families, groups, and/orcommunities.
  • Assistsin evaluating services provided and make recommendations for improvements asappropriate.
  • Mayprepare lesson plans and devise teaching methods, teaching aids, and tests foreducational programs.
  • Maytrain others.
  • Performsrelated work as assigned.
  • ValidTexas driver's license
  • Computerliterate 
  • Abilityto participate as a team member 
  • Experiencein the use of teaching medication education
  • Knowledgeof client care techniques, and of treatment, therapy and of developmentalprograms
  • Ability to communicateeffectively
