The Nueces Center for Mental Health and Intellectual Disabilities (MHID) is dedicated to helping the residents of Nueces County who are living with mental illness and/or intellectual and developmental disabilities. We serve over 10,000 people each year with psychiatric and behavioral health care outpatient services, counseling, training, employment assistance, housing support, homeless outreach, children's mental health care and more.

Salary: $66,473.71

Full-Time, 40 Hour Work Week, Paid Bi-weekly

General Description

Under supervision of theProgram Director with consultation with the Center's Medical Director, performsadvanced nursing work. Work involvesplanning, developing, coordinating, and evaluating nursing activities andproviding for them care and treatment of persons diagnosed with intellectualand developmental disabilities. Work includes serving as a resource on nursingpractices and education programs by performing consultative and administrativework. Serves as consultant and resourcefor Infection Control plan implementation. May assign and/or supervise the workof others. Works under limitedsupervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independentjudgment. May involve acting as aLiaison between Community Based Medical facilities and Center staff.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge ofnursing techniques and procedures; of health care laws and regulations; ofmedical diagnoses and procedures; of accepted medical treatment programs; ofcommunity health and nursing are principles, practices, and procedures; ofprogram regulations and procedures; and of utilization review and controlmeasures. 
• Skill in the care andtreatment of patients and in the operation of computers and applicable computersoftware. Ability to provide patientcare; prepare and maintain records; to explain public health laws; to organize,coordinate, and evaluate nursing activities and delivery of public healthservices; to interpret policies and procedures; to interpret health careregulations; to recognize patters of medical necessity treatment; tocommunicate effectively; and to assignand or supervisor the work of others. Inthe course of being employed, understands and implements trauma informed carepractices.
