Museum of Flight Foundation is Hiring a Project Manager Near Seattle, WA

Summary

The Project Manager supports the mission of The Museum Flight by managing complex projects from planning through delivery. Working with project members, cross-functional teams, external vendors, and other stakeholders, the Project Manager works to ensure deliverables, requirements, schedules, cost, changes, and meeting plans are communicated, executed, and completed. As the key driver for Museum-wide projects, the Project Manager plans and facilitates project meetings, aligns the team to methods and goals, tracks project tasks, and keeps the project on track. The Project Manager ensures that project teams complete projects on time, within budget, and within identified and approved scope.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage scope, time, cost, quality, resources, communication, risk and procurement for assigned projects. Use appropriate tools to plan project timelines, tasks, milestones, and deadlines. Allocate resources, budgets, and hours to the project and adjust allocations when necessary.
  • Identify unique requirements of each project and ensure needs are met; develop and manage project scope including review of cost estimates and specifications for both short and long term projects; may work with leadership on scope development, tracking deliverables and approval, communicating status, and securing possible funding sources.
  • Communicate project scope, goals and responsibilities to project team, stakeholders, and other internal and external audiences; establish clear expectations, and requirements of varying degrees of complexity, some of which may require significant discovery and analysis. Ensure agendas, meeting notes, and project summaries are prepared and distributed.
  • Develop reporting procedures and monitor performance in project control activities; develop, distribute, and present reports related to project activities, general project management, and financial updates. Monitor task completion status to identify at risk project tasks and to develop mitigation plans.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, sponsors, and team to determine priorities and scope of project(s) as well as define expected goals and outcomes based on established priorities. Effectively manage conflicts as they arise.
  • Develop and modify internal processes and procedures to improve process, project management and communication methods.
  • Assess and manage issues; prioritize and drive resolution of all issues associated with medium to high complexity projects.
  • Ensure strategic projects are delivered on-time and within defined budget restrictions; modify timelines as needed and communicate to all stakeholders.
  • Advise and make recommendations on policy and procedural issues that affect project planning and schedules and team obligations.
  • Advise and assist the team and senior staff in the formulation of project budget and financial planning.
  • Work closely with team leaders to affect the successful planning and coordination of ongoing activities between groups.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Communications, Project Management, or related field.
  • Five (5) years’ experience in managing complex, organizational-wide projects
  • A combination of education and work experience that yields the minimally required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.
  • Non-profit experience is a plus

Knowledge

  • Knowledge and application of project management practice standards
  • Knowledge and understanding of change management methods and application
  • Knowledge of project scheduling, scoping, and forecasting best practices
  • Knowledge of project management software such as Asana or Smartsheet

Skills

  • Essential project management skills, including project planning and tracking principles; project risk and issues identification, assessment, tracking, and mitigation
  • Proven experience building relationships and communicating with key stakeholders, including top organizational executives and decision makers
  • Attention to detail and consistently accurate; resourceful with strong researching experience and capability; organized to shepherd and coordinate information from various sources; can implement and follow an effective follow up and check-up procedure
  • Advanced verbal and written skills using different forms of media
  • Proven interpersonal and customer service skills, for both internal and external customers at all levels.
  • Demonstrated use of negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Advanced organizational, filing, and planning skills
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Teams

  • Proficient in analyzing complex problems, proposing effective solutions and understanding and applying vision and direction that is aligned to the Museum’s vision, mission, and values
  • Able to coordinate simple projects from inception to implementation or delivery
  • Ability to thrive in an environment with changing priorities; proven ability to manage a variety of tasks and activities simultaneously
  • Ability to translate complex concepts to individuals at all levels; provides continuous proactive verbal and/or written status of updates of activity.
  • Proven ability to set priorities, meet tight deadlines and multi-task with minimal supervision
  • Proven ability to coordinate multiple activities quickly and efficiently
  • Ability to work independently or as a member of the team who can navigate complex team dynamics successfully
  • Ability to manage stress effectively in a fast-paced and changing environment and contribute to problem-solving
  • Ability to quickly learn and fully support old and new systems, processes and procedures.
  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and maintain a high degree of professional etiquette and decorum.

License & Certification

  • Certified Associate in Project Management (CAMP) or Professional in Project Management (PMP), preferred.

  • This position works primarily Monday through Friday with flexibility for evening and variable hours based on Museum need.
  • Occasional local travel may be expected.

The Museum of Flight offers full-time employees a generous and comprehensive benefits package which includes medical, dental, vision, flexible spending accounts, a 403(b) retirement plan with a 5% match after 1 year of service, Employee Assistance Program, as well as company paid life insurance, Accidental Death and Dismemberment, and long-term disability.

Paid-Time Off

Our paid time-off plans include 2 weeks of accrued sick leave and vacation (80 hours) per year, 10 paid holidays, and 2 floating holidays.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $79,000 to $110,600 depending on experience.
