COMPANY BACKGROUND

Columbia Fire was founded in 2005 as a local 699 union fire sprinkler testing/inspection and service/maintenance company in Seattle. The company has grown to 60 employees and approximately $20M in annual revenue. In 2021, the business was restructured with additional investors excited to see the business grow both organically and through acquisition. We are establishing a robust infrastructure of defined and sustainable processes to scale through adding additional service offerings of monitoring, installation, inspection/testing, service, and maintenance of the following new systems: fire alarm, fire extinguishers, clean agent special hazard fire suppression, and low voltage electrical services, as well as a larger geographical footprint intended eventually for WA, OR, MT, ID, UT, NV. JOB OVERVIEW

Project manager

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Fire Sprinkler Project Manager to join our team. This role will involve splitting time between the service department and construction projects within the fire sprinkler industry. The Project Manager will play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful execution of projects, meeting client needs, and maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.

LOCATION

This is an in-person position, requiring physical attendance at the office and/or jobsites. This is not a remote work position. This requires a presence

PROJECT MANAGER POSITION CORE COMPETENCIES

PROJECT MANAGER ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Project Planning and Execution:
  • Plan, schedule, and oversee fire sprinkler service and construction projects from initiation to completion.
  • Coordinate and allocate resources, including manpower, equipment, and materials, to ensure project objectives are met.
  • Monitor project progress and make adjustments as necessary to ensure deadlines are met and budgets are adhered to.
  • Client Relationship Management:
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Communicate regularly with clients to understand their needs, address concerns, and provide updates on project status.
  • Foster strong client relationships by delivering exceptional service and exceeding client expectations.
  • Safety and Compliance:
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with relevant safety codes, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols to minimize risks to employees, clients, and the public.
  • Conduct safety audits and take corrective actions when necessary.
  • Team Leadership:
  • Supervise and provide guidance to project teams, including field technicians, installers, and subcontractors.
  • Foster a collaborative and positive work environment that encourages teamwork and professional growth.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching and feedback to team members.
  • Budget and Cost Control:
  • Develop project budgets and monitor expenses to ensure projects are completed within budgetary constraints.
  • Identify opportunities to improve cost efficiency and profitability without compromising quality.
  • Quality Assurance:
  • Maintain a commitment to delivering high-quality fire sprinkler systems that meet industry standards and client expectations.
  • Conduct quality inspections and implement corrective actions when necessary.

PROJECT MANAGER REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (Engineering, Construction Management, etc.) OR equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum two (2) years of prior experience in project management within the fire sprinkler industry.
  • Knowledge of fire sprinkler systems, codes, and regulations (e.g., NFPA, local fire codes) with no less than seven (7) years in the trade, as a sprinkler fitter, in fire sprinkler system design and/or fire sprinkler project management.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in utilizing project management and accounting software (e.g., Procore, Acumatica, MS Project, Primavera).
  • Leadership and team management skills.
  • Commitment to safety and quality.
