Multnomah Athletic Club is Hiring a Safety Manager Near Portland, OR

Job Summary Responsible for developing, implementing, monitoring and reporting security, safety, transportation and rule compliance policies, procedures, programs and initiatives. Working closely with the Senior Director of Club Operations, oversees security and safety to minimize hazards and reduce risk of injury and loss to members, guests and staff. Manages the club’s emergency response programs and responds to emergencies. Administers the club’s transportation/parking programs and manages security and parking contractors and ensures that other contractors are in compliance with club mandated insurance requirements. Manages the club’s workers compensation program in concert with the human resources team. Essential Job Functions Safety Oversees Club wide safety policies, programs, procedures, and initiatives, including quarterly inspections of fire life safety infrastructure, AED’s, oxygen, panic alarms, red phones, and club communications etc.Ensures all incidents, accidents, near-misses are thoroughly investigated causes are identified and solutions are implemented.Trains employees on how to prepare reports of findings, including recommendations to prevent recurrence and implements approved corrective action.Participates in the development, implementation, training and management of the Club’s emergency response programs.Responds to emergency situations. Administers first aid, CPR/AED and/or oxygen and requests medical service as necessary.Establishes and enforces club wide safety policies and procedures to be in compliance with OSHA 1910, OSHA1926 standards, and Oregon OSHA supplemental standards. Conducts regular safety inspections/audits, including those required by OSHA.Manages club wide service providers’ compliance with Club insurance requirements and MAC service providers’ standards. Develop policies and procedures to facilitate and oversee service providers / contractor safety plan review, and support for compliance with club policies.Monitors lost-time injuries/illnesses and workers’ compensation claims.Develop light duty workforce tasks for early injury release. SecurityEstablishes and enforces Club security policies and procedures.Conducts security evaluations and makes recommendations for improvement.Educates members and staff regarding security protocols.Manages external security contractors. Parking & Transportation Manages the club’s transportation/parking management programs.Supervises parking procedures and policies to include overflow parking, valet parking, parking rental, parking alerts, parking violation disputes and related parking issues.Manages external parking contractors.Maintains parking data reports including the six-month rideshare report.Ensures the club meets the objectives of DEQ’s Employee Commute Options Program. Promote rideshare and other transit club initiatives. General Promotes club wide safety and security awareness of members, guests and staff.Provides staff support to House Committee in evaluating effectiveness of Club Rules and recommending changes to improve security and safety. Identifies club safety and security training needs and develops and coordinates safety and security training programs in conjunction with Human Resources staff.Maintains MAC safety library (e.g. videos, regulations, reference manuals, etc.).Assists in preparation of annual operating budget for Security & Parking Department. Qualifications Five years related security and safety management experience. Bachelor degree required, preferably in criminal justice administration, safety, or related field. Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred. Knowledge of best security and safety practices and theories. Broad knowledge of OSHA safety codes and regulations Oregon OSHA and Federal OSHA safety laws; 30 hour OSHA 1910 general industry certification and 1926 OSHA 30 hour safety certifications. Possession of current CPR and first aid certifications. Knowledge of Workers Compensation regulations and claims requirements and procedures. Ability to manage external security and parking contractors and budgets. Exceptional decision making and problem solving skills. Ability to analyze situations and adopt a quick, effective, and reasonable course of action particularly under stressful conditions. Ability to be successful in a customer service oriented environment. Demonstrated ability to interact and communicate effectively and courteously with members, guests, and staff and contractors. Ability to write clear, accurate reports and the development of pertinent policies. Ability to enforce Club Rules fairly and respectfully. Proficient computer skills including MS Office.
