Morrison Child and Family Services is Hiring a Facilities and Safety Manager Near Portland, OR

Facilities and Safety Manager

Full Time, Full Benefits

FLSA: Exempt

Job Summary:

To lead and manage the day-to-day operations of Morrison’s facilities department. The Manager initiates and sees through building maintenance plans/schedule and small to moderately sized projects. Provide support in capital project planning and construction oversight. Support systems for building/workplace safety in compliance with all relevant regulatory bodies.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct supervision, training, and support to staff that will often need to work independently at multiple locations daily. Supervision of staff includes hiring, coaching, and development activities.
  • Ensure inventory of supplies and equipment for facilities staff.
  • Observe and set accountability for the following of safety procedures and policies.
  • Manage the process for, and evaluate, vendor proposals and qualifications.
  • Perform electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC maintenance as necessary.
  • Create and support a facilities maintenance schedule for owned facilities.
  • Project management and implementation of small to mid-sized projects including program moves, building renovations, etc.
  • Develop and monitor annual budget activities in coordination with and support from supervisor.
  • Provide technical support in capital project planning and is main day-to-day contact with general contractor and subs as necessary.
  • Participate in department strategic planning and implementation of continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with local regulatory bodies (OSHA, etc.)
  • Implement, Monitor, and report on maintenance schedules/testing of systems
  • Support the work of the agency wide safety committee through information sharing across the committee and being a conduit to Leadership regarding agency needs and trends.
  • Fleet management: Vehicle registration, coordinate monthly inspections, routine maintenance, and annual mechanical certification of agency owned vehicles
  • Promptly respond to emergency calls for maintenance assistance in a calm and resourceful manner when requested; arrange technical assistance calls as needed. Calls may occur during off-duty hours.


Education and Work Experience:

A typical background for the person who can fulfill the duties of this position is as follows:

  • 7 years in facilities related management field, with 2-3 years of supervisory experience
  • 3-5 years of facilities safety, including Hazard Communications, MSDS compliance, vendor MSDS management
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Basic knowledge of Occupational Safety principles and emergency procedures
  • Knowledge of proper lifting techniques; body mechanics
  • General maintenance skills including plumbing, electrical, sheet rock, carpentry skills and building maintenance


Valued Experience:

  • Formal technical or project management training preferred

Other Requirements:

  • Pass a DHS criminal history background
  • Meet agency driving requirements.
  • Complete and pass third party physical exam scheduled by Morrison
  • Ability to work 40 hours a week Monday through Friday with home office at Morrison Sandy office and supporting all locations.
  • Willingness to respond to emergencies relating to facility operations which could occur at any time of day.

Starting Pay Rate:

Facilities and Safety Manager: $32.50-$35.88/hour
